What Shoppers Say About Getty Images
Getty Images receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 17 reviews averaging 1.9 out of 5. The dominant complaint centers on subscription and billing practices, with multiple reviewers reporting unauthorized charges, difficult cancellation processes, and inadequate disclosure of renewal terms. Customers describe feeling trapped by subscription models and report that customer service representatives refused refunds, citing fine print terms. A smaller subset of reviewers also question the originality of Getty Images' photo collection, suggesting images are recycled from other platforms.
Among the small number of positive reviews, some shoppers appear satisfied with the service, representing 18 percent of ratings. However, the vast majority of feedback (76 percent one-star reviews) reflects serious trust issues with the company's business practices. Concerns about subscription transparency, aggressive billing, and customer service responsiveness appear to be the primary factors driving the low overall rating.

Fraudulent Website. Grabbed a few photos and suddenly got locked into an impossible to cancel yearly plan for $800. Outrageous.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY'S TRIAL OR BUY ANYTHING! THEY EXPLOIT CUSTOMERS AND SHOW NO HUMANITY! Someone I know used a trial membership on my PayPal to grab a single image. The trial ended on the date shown, and I cancelled it that very day, but the company claims I missed the deadline. Now they're demanding an annual fee of €74.20 monthly, which adds up to €890.40 per year even though I never wanted this. Their offer? Pay €350 to cancel early. It's basically extortion: fork over €350 or owe €890.40. I'm trapped with no options. This company is absolutely cruel and unreasonable. I'm 8 months pregnant and their behavior is putting me under tremendous stress and financial hardship!
The company sells templates that require you to customize the text for your specific event, but they don't give you the software to do that work. You'd need to buy publishing software separately just to edit them. When I asked if they could supply the blank template so I could edit it myself, they refused to help. This company doesn't seem to care about customer needs at all. Stay away if you have other options.
Don't even consider it. I'm not sure how this happened, as I've tested other companies' free offers and never got trapped into a yearlong subscription for something I can't even use. You need expensive Adobe Illustrator software to download their EPS files. This shouldn't be allowed in the United States, should it? Seriously frustrated!
I would give them zero stars if I could. I decided to test out the platform and got 3 images during my 10 day free period. Now they're billing me for a full year of service, which costs around 600 dollars.
Best option for selling my work. As someone who draws and has tested many different sites to sell illustrations, Getty is far superior to the rest. I've dealt with frustrating situations with Shutterstock and had unpredictable earnings with Adobe Stock. Getty has been fantastic to partner with and offers me better compensation for my artwork. My only concern is that they're not always consistent with reviewing new submissions I upload. New pieces sometimes go through instantly, but other times they want me to show proof of ownership. It would be nice if they trusted their exclusive artists more.
