What Shoppers Say About hatch.co
Hatch.co receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with shoppers expressing frustration over aggressive subscription paywalls, poor customer service, and technical reliability issues. Reviewers describe the device as expensive when paired with mandatory monthly fees ($6 mentioned), and criticize the company for locking features behind subscriptions. The few positive aspects mentioned include attractive industrial design and effective sunrise lighting functionality, though even satisfied customers acknowledge the subscription model feels costly. The dominant complaints center on nonexistent phone support (text bots and slow email responses only), difficult reconnection processes requiring extended troubleshooting near the router, audio cutting out unexpectedly, and the company requiring customers to pay return shipping when devices arrive defective. Multiple reviewers suggest cheaper alternatives (smart bulbs and Bluetooth speakers) provide better value.
Shoppers consistently recommend avoiding Hatch.co due to the combination of high upfront device costs, mandatory subscriptions, poor technical support infrastructure, and device reliability problems. One reviewer noted their broken device arrived defective and were charged $20 for return shipping, compounding the financial loss. The lack of phone support appears particularly damaging, with customers describing email responses taking one to two days and offering no real resolution to technical problems.

Sorted by: Most recentUsed to be a solid product until they decided to lock everything behind a subscription. You can't call anyone for help if something breaks. All you get is a text bot that emails you saying expect 1 to 2 days for a response. Skip this one.
This is an expensive device paired with an expensive monthly subscription where they intentionally lock features behind a paywall. The company could not possibly be any greedier. My suggestion is to grab a $5 smart bulb and a $20 Bluetooth speaker instead. No confusing interface, no annoying subscription charge, and you'll spend a quarter of what this costs.
Terrible device, terrible support, terrible app design. The app doesn't work right with the new Nest Rest. This thing disconnects from the app whenever you unplug it, and reconnecting is a nightmare that takes about half an hour of resetting it while standing right next to your router. Customer service basically doesn't exist. I sent an email over a week ago and posted a review on Amazon too. Still haven't heard from anyone.
Just grabbed the Hatch Restore 3 last week and I've been really happy with it so far. I'm based in the UK and it works great with a US to UK converter. The design is super clean and modern looking, and the sunrise function is excellent. That said, the $6 a month subscription fee feels like a lot to ask for accessing all the features, especially at this price point. If you dig through the app though, you can find some nice sound options without paying. I'm using the meditation tracks at bedtime, and there's a decent selection. When you play sessions from the device itself, the light gets pretty bright and the volume is loud at first. You can adjust the sound with the knob on top, but if you want to dim the light you have to go into the app, which kind of defeats the purpose of using it as a bedside alarm when you want your phone in another room. There's a little bit of static in the speaker when playing tracks, though you stop noticing it after a while. The night sounds have good variety and you can tweak both volume and brightness. Morning alarms are fantastic, waking up to a gradual light is so much better than a loud alarm.
This product is a total disaster. There's no phone number to call, customer service is basically nonexistent, and you're stuck paying for your own return if the device shows up broken. That's twenty bucks out of pocket just to send it back ground mail through USPS. So now you're out the purchase price and the return shipping. Good luck getting your refund after that. Hard pass on this one, just skip it, another cheap import that's not worth the hassle.
I really wanted to like the Hatch Restore 2 because the lighting and sounds are nice and the design is sleek and contemporary, but honestly it's garbage. The audio cuts out after just two seconds regardless of how many times I restart it. After months of going back and forth with their support team, nothing improved. It was meant to be a Christmas present but didn't show up until late January, and then it took over six weeks just to finally get my money back. It worked intermittently during the free trial period and completely stopped working once I had to start paying for the subscription. My spouse and I had to reach out at least ten to fifteen times before they would finally process the refund. I briefly considered upgrading to the new Hatch 3, but then I remembered how awful dealing with Hatch 2 was. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
Absolutely furious with this company. I ordered a Hatch Rest as a baby shower gift and had it shipped to the person receiving it. That delivery went fine. Then I get a surprise package from USPS a couple days later with another Hatch Rest inside. My credit card got charged twice and trying to reach customer service is impossible. No real phone line, and they expect me to print a return label and take it to the post office myself. We're in a rural area without a local post office, so that's not happening. Why is there zero actual customer service? Why can't I reach anyone by phone? Why did the gift recipient get the same item I did? And it turns out this is a subscription product. Does that mean my card will get hit again, possibly twice? I had to file a dispute with my bank. My advice is to stay away from this outfit completely because their mistakes will end up costing you a ton of time and money to sort out. I bill my time at $50 an hour, by the way.
