Helzberg Diamonds Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Helzberg Diamonds
Helzberg Diamonds receives sharply divided feedback, with shoppers rating it 2.3 out of 5 based on 16 reviews. The store earns consistent praise for select staff members who are described as knowledgeable, genuine, and trustworthy without being pushy. However, negative reviews significantly outnumber positive ones, with recurring complaints about product quality issues (such as magnetic material allegedly blended into gold chains), rude and dismissive customer service staff, poor communication on orders, inflexible policies on returns and refunds, and a perceived lack of customer care after a purchase is made.
Common pain points include delayed shipments without tracking updates, difficulty obtaining refunds when orders are cancelled, staff attitudes that reportedly worsen when customers ask questions or seek care plans, and strict return windows with no flexibility even for loyal customers. While a minority of shoppers report excellent experiences tied to specific staff members, the majority express disappointment with service quality and product reliability, suggesting that experience at Helzberg varies significantly by location and individual representative.

Never shopping with Helzberg again. We had a gemstone put into a new setting that cost about eight hundred dollars with lab-created tiny diamonds on a super delicate band. They had to send it elsewhere to set the stone. When I asked what the labor charge would be, they wouldn't give me a straight answer. My spouse asked if it was going to be near two hundred or up around a thousand. Still no direct answer, just that it probably wouldn't hit a grand, maybe more in the five hundred range, but they refused to lock anything down. Ring comes back and the charge is nearly fifteen hundred. That's absolutely wrong. I took it to two different jewelers afterwards and they both said it would've been four to five hundred max for what they did, which was just adding new prongs to hold the stone. Helzberg straight up ripped us off. I regret giving them business and they should be ashamed. Looking at what should've been eleven hundred dollars but ended up being twenty-three hundred is sickening. We were already stretching to afford the original amount and paying more than double that is putting real pressure on our finances. Thanks a lot for the extra stress, Helzberg.
Such a great experience here! The team really knows how to treat customers right. I bought a sterling silver necklace and the clasp ended up breaking. I called the store (about an hour away from my place) and they said to bring it by and they'd take care of it at no cost. Really impressed with how they handled it.
I want to give a shout out to an employee at the Orland Park location. She is incredibly warm and professional, and really went the extra mile to help me out. I've worked with Helzberg a few times before, but this person raised the bar significantly. She's a fantastic employee and I really hope the company recognizes what an awesome person they have working for them.
Ordered a gold chain and when it came in, it felt too light. I put it on a scale and it was short almost a quarter pound of gold compared to what they said I was getting. Just a heads up - make sure you weigh everything from this place when you receive it.
Helzberg can be really inconsistent for me. Some visits are great, others make me regret going at all. Honestly it comes down to who's helping you that day. There are two people at my local shop I've been going to for years and they're solid. One of them actually helped me with my mother-in-law's ring when my husband took it in for resizing and she was fantastic then, still fantastic now. When I come in with one of them for cleaning, I usually walk out having bought a gift for someone. Other times I leave swearing I won't be back for half a year. They do these custom jewelry events but I'd skip those if I were you. Their custom options are super limited and it's not really a custom experience at all. More like picking from a ring, picking from a few stone choices, and maybe tweaking one or two things. Had to go back multiple times to get my grandmother's stones set into a wedding band for my mother-in-law's marquise diamond. I've also lost three prongs since then, which meant three diamonds gone, so I had to ask them to make them sturdier. The prongs were so delicate at first that even a light bump would bend them out of place. But bottom line, find that one employee who gets you and you'll be fine.
