Hickory Farms Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Hickory Farms
Hickory Farms receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 18 reviews averaging 1.3 out of 5. The most consistent complaint centers on deceptive packaging: reviewers describe gift boxes and products that appear full but contain excessive cardboard filler and minimal actual product, with individual items like cheese slices and crackers taking up only a fraction of their packaging space. Several shoppers report that the quality does not justify the price, noting they could purchase superior meat and cheese from their local grocery store deli for less money. Texture changes in sausage products and mushy consistency issues are also mentioned. Beyond product concerns, customers report serious service failures including double charges that result in order cancellations, and inaccessible customer service with all calls routing to voicemail, making it impossible to resolve shipping address errors or other issues.
The rare three-star review acknowledges that flavor is adequate but notes significant quality degradation compared to prior years, particularly in product texture and appearance. No shoppers recommend this retailer based on the available reviews. The combination of misleading packaging practices, poor product quality relative to pricing, billing errors, and unresponsive customer support has resulted in almost exclusively negative experiences.

Sorted by: Most recentWhat happened to you Hickory Farms? Everything in the gift basket I got has way lower quality than before. The cheese was awful and I had to throw it away. The crackers aren't stacked nicely anymore, they're just tossed into some plastic wrap. I can't even tell my sister who gave this to me how disappointing it is. You should be ashamed for letting the quality slip on products people have loved for so long. If you use good ingredients, customers will pay for it.
Stopped at the Hickory Farms in a local mall and they had a buy two get two dollars off sale. I wanted to get one cheese and one meat but the employee Amber told me I had to buy two of the same type, though the candies could mix and match. Seemed pretty unfair to me. I've been getting Hickory Farms every year, usually a gift set for myself. But when I got home and refrigerated them, I could tell right away the quality went downhill. That sharp cheddar is completely different now, and I can get better cheese at the grocery store for way less money. When I opened the meat it was so greasy that liquid pooled on my counter, which has me worried. This whole purchase bummed me out and it's not even about the two dollar deal, it's the fact that the quality is just gone. Won't be buying anymore after all these years.
Placed an order back in November that needed to get here by December thirteenth for our son. It never showed up. The tracking kept saying different things and then after the fifteenth it stopped showing anything at all. I've sent multiple emails and called a couple times. They said someone would get back to me but nobody ever did and my emails got ignored too. We've been ordering from them for years but that's done now. Their customer service is completely useless!
Ordered a gift basket for Father's Day and placed the order over a week early. Got a message saying it shipped on time but then nothing happened. The tracking never got past label creation. When I called customer service, there wasn't much of an apology. They offered to refund me but that was it, and the item ended up out of stock anyway. I asked if they could do a discount or free shipping on something else but they refused. Nobody even addressed how my dad never got his gift and I had to apologize to him. Very let down and I'm shopping somewhere else now, won't be back.
The food quality here is no longer what it should be. What happens to companies when they blow up in size is honestly pathetic. I'm hoping they take a hard fall because the stuff they're selling now is just garbage.
When I tried calling about my order, their automated system wasn't working so I sent an email but got nothing back. After I cancelled since it never went out, I heard a week later that my rushed order had actually shipped. I reached out multiple times with no response. Not going back there and I've filed a complaint with my credit card company.
Got a seventy four dollar gift basket for Valentine's Day for my wife and now I'm too embarrassed to give it to her. The items in it are such tiny portions and you can't really tell from the pictures online how small they actually are. When I emailed their customer service they were super rude. Then I called because the website showed chocolate drizzled popcorn but I got pretzels instead, and again they were rude and talked down to me. Awful experience overall.
I bought one small order from them years ago and I still can't get them to stop sending me catalogs. For nearly 4 years now I've been asking to be taken off their mailing list, and each year they say it will happen, but the junk mail keeps coming back. This company isn't worth your time with their terrible customer service and refusal to do something so simple as honor an unsubscribe request.
