What Shoppers Say About Honey Baked Ham Co.
Honey Baked Ham Co. receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 14 reviews averaging 1.3 out of 5. The most consistent complaints center on product quality issues, including hams that are excessively fatty, undersized, or not meeting expectations for the premium prices charged (often exceeding $90 to $100 per ham). Customers also report frustrating service experiences such as missing receipts, rewards numbers not being properly recorded, unexplained service interruptions during peak seasons, and insufficient communication about store policies or limitations. Several reviewers expressed particular disappointment with the company's handling of special occasion orders and refusal to resolve problems with incomplete shipments.
While a small minority of shoppers mention positive staff interactions (one reviewer praised an employee named Domenica for making them feel welcome), these isolated bright spots are far outweighed by complaints about inconsistent quality, poor communication, and unresponsive customer service. Multiple reviews reference long-standing customer relationships that have deteriorated due to recent experiences, suggesting the company may have experienced a decline in standards. The vast majority of reviewers do not recommend the store, particularly given that alternative retailers like Walmart are cited as offering comparable or better products at lower prices.

Sorted by: Most recentThis is what a $50 ham looks like at the Rocky River, Ohio location. Look at that pathetic glaze on top. This is seriously what you're getting for that price. It was embarrassing to put this on the Christmas table for my family.
Don't bother with this place! I stopped by the store and requested sliced turkey breast. The price was ridiculous at $46.77 for just over 3 pounds. When I got home an hour later, I realized they'd sold me sliced smoked turkey instead, which I never asked for and the smell makes me feel sick. I called the store and was told I'd have to drive it back before closing that same day. It was already 4pm and I live an hour away. So basically I'm stuck losing about $50, plus $20 in gas, plus two hours driving around. Completely wasted. My friend who tried it said it was dry and tasted like honey ham instead of turkey. Even my cats won't touch it. I would've given zero stars if I could. Don't go here!
Honey Baked Hams taste great. I've also noticed they've been improving their spiral slicing technique over time, which means less meat gets wasted. The only downside is that brown sugar coating coverage could be better because a lot of it falls off during handling. Pricing per pound keeps climbing like everything else these days. Back when I first started buying here, I'd regularly get $5 to $7 off coupons through email and the mail, but those deals seem to have dried up in recent years.
My employer gave us vouchers for either a free turkey or ham. When I got to the counter, they told me they were completely out of ham and I could only get turkey. It wasn't my preference but I could deal with it. What really got to me was the attitude of the person helping me. She seemed annoyed that I was even there, like I was asking for charity instead of redeeming a voucher. This is one of those cases where someone who clearly doesn't enjoy helping customers probably shouldn't be working in a customer-facing job.
