What Shoppers Say About Hydroviv
Hydroviv has received only one-star ratings from reviewers on RetailCoupons.com, with shoppers reporting serious product failures. Multiple customers experienced leaking, bursting, or cracking filter housings and plastic fittings that caused water damage to kitchens and basements, with repair costs reaching thousands of dollars in some cases. Additional complaints center on defective replacement filter shipments, poor customer service follow-up after incidents, aggressive email marketing practices, and difficulty unsubscribing from mailing lists.
Beyond the physical product failures, reviewers criticize Hydroviv for pricing that does not match product quality and what they characterize as inadequate customer support. Customers who experienced water damage reported that while the company provided return labels, communication ceased after initial refunds, leaving them without resolution or explanation. The combination of hardware failures, expensive damage claims, and service issues has led reviewers to advise against purchasing from this company.

Sorted by: Most recentMy unit leaked badly as well. About a year after installing it, one of the fittings came loose and flooded my kitchen with water. What a disaster. It had only been running for about 20 minutes when I noticed the problem. Good thing I was home at the time. Don't buy this until they replace those cheap plastic fittings with something better.
Had this under-sink filter for two years without any problems until it suddenly failed big time. The plastic hose connecting the filter to my cold water line snapped and water poured everywhere across my kitchen floor. Now I'm dealing with finding someone to handle water damage restoration to prevent mold issues. Really disappointed with this product.
These filters are way overpriced. My replacement filter shipment never showed up, and UPS reported it was damaged. Then the tracking changed to show delivery when it actually never arrived. I filed a complaint through PayPal for a refund and canceled my subscription. Can't recommend this company to anyone.
I had two filters and one of them burst. Water got everywhere in the cabinet under my sink and caused serious damage to my basement ceiling and walls too. The restoration work ended up costing me three grand. The problem is those plastic fittings they use.
Avoid this product. The filter housing cracked open in the middle of the night and water went everywhere in my kitchen and dripped through to the basement below. They quickly sent me a return label so I could ship the broken unit back for what they called an investigation, and they refunded my last filter order. After that, I never heard anything from them again except for some message saying I could mail a letter to their Chicago office if I had concerns. What kind of company doesn't use email to communicate with customers? I wish I hadn't mailed the damaged item back. We ended up with thousands in damage to our floors and walls. Lucky we were home that night or the whole basement would've been destroyed.
Total marketing scam. Once you sign up, they bombard your inbox with spam emails almost every single day. I tried unsubscribing multiple times and even contacted their customer service requesting to be removed from their mailing list, but nothing changed.
I looked into buying one of these filters but decided against it after reviewing their marketing claims. As someone with a science background, I checked out the independent research from UNC they reference on their site and found some serious problems. They're cherry picking which results to show consumers. The study actually tested a bunch of different filter types, and they only highlighted the ones that didn't work well while completely leaving out under-the-sink and dual-stage systems that performed equally or better. You can find all the data in the study's supplementary materials, which shows lots of other options work just fine for removing PFAS. The research clearly shows reverse osmosis and dual-stage systems generally work well. When I brought this up to the company, they gave me a dismissive response instead of being straight with me. If their product really worked that great, why would they need to twist the facts?
Installation was straightforward, but the filter doesn't really work that well. If you want to make your tap water taste better, just go get a reverse osmosis system instead and don't waste your cash on this. This turned out to be a big disappointment and seems like it's only designed to work with already pretty clean water.
Skip this product entirely. It doesn't do what they claim it does. The water still tastes bad even after filtering. We tested it ourselves with a home kit and found out it's not actually clean like they advertise. When we showed them our results, they basically said our test kit isn't good enough, which is ridiculous. On top of that, the unit leaks. The worst part though is how they handle customer complaints. Customer service is practically nonexistent. Their responses are rude and robotic, just copying and pasting the same generic text with maybe a sentence or two tacked on to address your specific issue. They just keep sending you links to their warranty info and return policy without actually dealing with the fact that you received a broken, poorly advertised product. I went back and forth with multiple people, and one rep named Shane was especially unhelpful, rude, and unreasonable. He's gotten a ton of one star reviews from other unhappy customers too. It's shocking that the company doesn't understand basic customer service or how to treat people properly.
Had a really disappointing experience with the Under-Sink Water System. As a disabled veteran, I bought one unit expecting to finally have access to clean drinking water at my kitchen sink. Unfortunately, nothing went right. When I first got it, I couldn't even open the filter system. I emailed customer service several times waiting for a response since they don't take phone calls. These guys are stuck in the past and provide zero customer support. It's unprofessional. You'd think a company selling water filters would care about their customers, especially at the price they charge. They told me to just install it without opening it, which makes no sense. Plus they said if I installed it and then wanted to return it, they wouldn't accept it back. Their return process is terrible anyway. I explained my situation that I'm older and disabled and can't physically open the filter cap, but they weren't sympathetic. Their return policy is awful and unfriendly. You have to pay to ship it back yourself and then they slap you with a 25 percent restocking fee on top of it. It's a scam targeting disabled and elderly people.
