What Shoppers Say About Life Time
Life Time receives mixed feedback from shoppers, with ratings ranging from one to five stars. Positive reviewers consistently praise the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, along with the variety of amenities including pools, saunas, weight rooms, and fitness options. Multiple reviewers highlight that Life Time functions as a comprehensive wellness destination rather than just a gym, with well-maintained spaces across different locations.
However, serious concerns emerge in negative reviews. One reviewer reported critical child safety issues, including a near-drowning during swim class and an unsupervised injury, with inadequate management response and follow-up care. Another reviewer expressed frustration over facility changes, specifically the removal of a basketball court in favor of a pickleball court, which eliminated their preferred workout option.

Sorted by: Most recentLife Time is fantastic - the facility is incredibly clean and well-maintained with tons of space and top-notch amenities. I really enjoy the pool, sauna, and weight room areas. The only thing that really bothers me is that they removed the basketball court and put in a pickleball court instead. Basketball was my go-to workout, and now I don't have anywhere to play it.
I am extremely upset with this location's approach to child safety and how management handled serious incidents. My 6-year-old nearly drowned during a swim class, and later broke his arm while playing in the kids' area with no supervision. After both events, he received minimal attention and was left upset and in pain while his younger brother tried to comfort him. When we asked to discuss what happened, management refused to meet with us or provide video recordings. Instead, they sent a representative who didn't identify themselves and happened to be legal counsel. I've since discovered they're not even licensed as a childcare facility, and I found multiple online complaints from other families about similar problems. Think carefully before bringing your children here.
The Gainesville location is absolutely wonderful! I've also visited the Centreville and Ashburn locations, and even stopped by the Tampa facility on vacation. Life Time is way more than just a gym - it's genuinely transformed our wellness since we joined two years back. All the facilities are immaculately kept, and depending on the location, you get pools, exercise areas, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs. The Gainesville club has dedicated yoga studios plus spaces for cycling and other group classes, all bundled with your membership. There are definitely options to spend extra money if you want them, haha - personal training, pilates classes, and a really nice cafe that opens early and stays open late.
