Lupine Inc Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Lupine Inc
Lupine Inc receives highly polarized feedback, with most shoppers reporting serious frustrations while a small group of long-term customers praise the brand's durability and warranty service. The dominant complaints center on the company's return and replacement policies, particularly a recent shift requiring individual customers to handle returns rather than retailers, as well as instances where the company has denied replacement claims despite marketing a comprehensive guarantee. Specific product design issues have also emerged, including step-in harnesses that either slip off or cause chafing, and collars that may not be fully compatible with electronic fence systems as advertised. The minority of satisfied reviewers highlight exceptional product longevity over years of use, quick replacement processing when claims are approved, and a large selection of designs that justify repeat purchases.
Several reviewers express disappointment that customer service has not been responsive to product feedback or willing to work with customers on refunds, instead limiting resolution to replacements that may not solve the underlying problem. The gap between Lupine's advertised guarantee and the actual claims experience appears to be a critical issue driving negative sentiment, with customers feeling misled by promises that don't materialize in practice.

Sorted by: Most recentI've been a shop owner stocking Lupine products for over a decade. I'd usually submit damaged inventory once yearly for replacement credit. I didn't realize they'd changed their approach until recently, now expecting customers themselves to handle returns. I've taken back about thirty-five damaged items from customers over the years and given them fresh ones in exchange. Lupine won't credit me for those. Honestly not sure why since I'm the one who actually paid for them in the first place. I'd just like replacements. It feels wrong that after all these years of promoting them as a local brand to drive sales, they won't help me out. I'm disappointed and regret ever suggesting their products. I'll probably have to discontinue carrying them and let my customers know why. You're not living up to the good company image you promote or showing appreciation for small businesses that have supported you for twelve years.
I've been using Lupine for years and they consistently deliver. Their team handles every issue with care and the guarantee actually works when you need it. Replacements show up quickly. We've got about twenty dogs of all sizes living here right now, and over the span of nearly two decades we've only had to get four items replaced because of puppy chewing. The durability is amazing. I really appreciate everything Lupine does for us.
Watch out for their step-in harness design. There's really no winning with it because if it's loose enough your dog can wriggle right out of it, but make it snug and your pup ends up with painful chafing under the arms. I actually called to give them feedback about needing better comfort features in their harness construction, but they didn't seem interested in addressing the issue.
I really wanted this to work out. Their website and all those promises made it seem perfect. When the collars arrived though, I realized they weren't as compatible with my electronic fence system as advertised. I reached out about getting a refund, and they said that's not an option. They'd replace it, but that doesn't help when the replacement wouldn't work with my setup either. Now I'm out forty bucks for two collars that don't do what I needed them to do.
This is only our second harness in eight years. This one started fraying and folding in on itself right at the chest area after just a month of use. Lupine is refusing to replace it even though their whole pitch is they cover products that get chewed up. They're saying it's still working fine. It's not.
I've been buying Lupine for years and stayed loyal through two previous dogs who lived well into their senior years. Every birthday and holiday, I'd get them fresh collars and leashes in new patterns, then donate the old ones. The huge selection of designs, solid warranty coverage, and top-notch quality made it an easy choice. When we brought home two new Chocolate Labs, a friend let us borrow some gear including a harness with a handle, which was really convenient as I've gotten older. I figured Lupine harnesses just didn't come with handles, so I ordered new sets without worrying. Unfortunately, one of our eleven-month-old pups got ahold of a harness while I was outside gardening and chewed straight through it. I went to the facility hoping they could either replace it or add a handle, but things didn't go the way I'd hoped.
The roman style harness gives your dog freedom to move and has a front clip, though honestly it doesn't stop pulling much without serious training work. What bothered me more was how quickly the material broke down. After just one month of light chewing, it showed way more wear than a different brand harness I've owned much longer. The buckle design also gets really sticky in cold temperatures. The bigger problem was dealing with their customer service team. When I brought up these issues, they wouldn't look at video evidence and wanted me to pay to ship it back for them to inspect themselves. So I waited for more damage, sent additional photos, and only then did they agree to replace it. Their lifetime guarantee might sound great, but the strict process and unwillingness to work with you makes it feel like a hassle. I'd rather spend more on something that just lasts longer in the first place.
Steer clear of this brand. I got a harness, put it on my dog just one time to test the fit, and immediately took it off. I paid eight dollars to ship it back thinking I'd get my money back or at least store credit since it was completely untouched with tags still attached. When customer service got back to me, they said there was a flaw in the material and couldn't do a refund or swap. Back and forth emails followed, I even spoke with management, but got nowhere. Their policy is way too rigid for something you can't actually try on at a physical store before buying. I'm done shopping there, and honestly, I'd recommend looking elsewhere too.
Anyone thinking about buying should look at what people are saying about this place first. We got a harness for one cat and it was fine, then ordered another for our other cat but it arrived too small and wouldn't even close properly. We sent it back with the tag still on and paid for shipping ourselves. A week later it came back with a letter saying they couldn't process the return because they considered it used. Their customer service was rude about the whole thing. They showed us a photo claiming our return had hair all over it, but the harness they sent back to us is basically clean. They've decided they can't resell it and won't take it back, and that's final according to them. Their guarantee promise is completely false. Skip this company.
Reading other people's stories, I realize I'm far from alone in having trouble with their return process. I bought from them for many years with no issues until recently. I ordered two sets of harnesses and leashes, one being a replacement for older worn out gear. When it came in, I removed the tags and tested it on my dog. She never actually wore it outside because my husband didn't like the color pattern I'd selected. I ordered a different set instead and asked about returning the original. They told me no problem, they accept returns even with tags off and even if the dog tried it on indoors. I shipped it back and didn't hear anything, so I followed up on my refund. That's when they said the harness I returned was used and dirty and because they need to protect customers they wouldn't refund me. Instead they offered a one-time twenty five percent discount. I've been a loyal customer for years and this awful return policy and lousy service means I won't be coming back.
