What Shoppers Say About Mother Denim
Mother Denim receives polarized reviews, with shoppers split between those who love the brand's aesthetic and fit and those frustrated by quality and sizing issues. Loyal customers praise the jeans for comfort, style, and how well they fit various body types, with some having purchased multiple pairs over years. However, a significant portion of reviewers report serious problems: consistent sizing that runs smaller than advertised (sometimes drastically), quality control issues including unpleasant chemical smells that persist after washing, damaged items upon arrival, and poor customer service when attempting to resolve problems. Several shoppers note the brand's apparent decline from its earlier reputation.
The most common complaint involves sizing accuracy and fit consistency. Reviewers report ordering according to size recommendations only to receive jeans that fit multiple sizes smaller than labeled, and damaged or defective products appear with troubling frequency. Customer service responsiveness is also cited as a concern, with some shoppers reporting ignored inquiries. At the 2.5 rating based on 8 reviews, Mother Denim's high price point makes these quality and sizing inconsistencies particularly frustrating for customers.

Sorted by: Most recentGot a damaged pair in my order, and that wasn't even the worst part. The sizing was way off - they fit much smaller than advertised. For the price tag they put on these, the quality was really disappointing. When I contacted them about it, they acted like they cared but still made me send everything back before they'd refund my money. The whole thing was a hassle and their customer service didn't help matters. Not coming back to shop here.
Found Mother jeans a few years back and immediately loved everything about them - the aesthetic, how comfortable they are, the way they fit my body shape perfectly. I'm on the shorter side at 5'1", weigh around 125 lbs with a curvier build, so I usually go for size 26 or 27 to get a bit of wiggle room since I'm always moving around. I've bought 4 pairs total now. Here's the frustrating part though - none of them have lasted more than a year. Every single pair ends up ripping in the seat from normal daily wear. For what I'm spending on these, they fall apart way faster than other denim I've owned that costs way less. Has anyone else run into this?
Got a pair of their Hustler Heel style in Taking Shape wash for $248. I've usually liked Mother Denim before, but wow was this a problem. Right out of the box they had this awful smell. Even after washing them exactly as instructed, it got worse somehow. This happened to me once before with their Just Black pair too - nice looking cut but the stench was overpowering and never went away. I reached out and they wanted me to ship them back, which felt unfair since I'd already spent time and money getting them tailored. I pointed out that the smell issue seems to be a batch thing, but they didn't really address it. That's it for me with this brand. It's odd they don't have any product reviews on their site either - would be helpful.
These jeans are seriously fantastic. Once I found the right pair, I couldn't imagine wearing anything else. The team really knows what they're doing.
Ordered shorts that the listing said ran small, so I went up a size like they recommended. When they showed up they were still 2 sizes too tight. I sent the company 2 different emails asking about this but they never replied to either one. Plus the shorts themselves weren't anything special quality-wise - could've been from a discount brand for how little they justified that price point. Really let down.
It's unfortunate how much this company has declined. For years I was a loyal customer and always grabbed The Weekender in size 32, which was perfect for me as someone who typically wears a 14. This time I decided to size up to a 33. Big mistake. Even though the tag said 33, they were actually cut like a 29. Compared side by side, my older 32 and the new 33 are completely different - the new pair is about 2 inches smaller around everything. My daughter tried them on and they fit her perfectly, and she's a true 29 with 32 inches at the hip and 18 inch thighs. My old pair? 38 inches and 20 inch thighs. When I called customer service, they basically said tough luck. I'm done shopping here.
Picked up a pair of Mother jeans lately and they have this sagging issue caused by poor construction. These aren't cheap jeans, so paying to have a tailor fix them just to wear them properly feels wrong. The look is definitely there but I shouldn't need alterations to make them wearable.
I've been a Mother customer for quite a while now. My closet has several pairs of their jeans plus some shirts, small accessories and even a couple dresses. Honestly they're the only jeans I'll wear anymore. I'm totally hooked. The price is worth it to me because the quality is the best I've found. Some of my pairs get worn constantly and they hold up beautifully. Plus their styles are pretty distinctive. I haven't been let down yet.
