Had a really frustrating experience calling to place a substantial order. The representative on the phone was dismissive right from the start. I was trying to explain that their website was charging me Pennsylvania sales tax, but according to the PA tax office, these items shouldn't be taxed since Mountain House's own instructions require adding hot water and stirring multiple times during preparation. This makes them food items, not taxable products. She kept talking over me and refused to listen, claiming their products definitely are subject to PA tax. I pointed out that major retailers like Walmart and Amazon don't charge tax on the exact same Mountain House products, but she wouldn't hear it. She got increasingly rude, started yelling, and then just hung up on me. I'm concerned they might be collecting PA tax without actually sending it to the state. Bottom line: this company doesn't seem to care about their customers or keeping their business. The staff was unprofessional and unwilling to have any kind of real conversation. I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your emergency food supplies and save yourself the headache.
