What Shoppers Say About philosophy
Philosophy.com has received overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 17 reviews averaging 1.2 out of 5. The primary complaints center on customer service failures: no phone support (only a non-functional contact form), inability to track orders without an account, and unresponsive refund processes. Multiple shoppers report orders that never arrived while charges were processed, with the company allegedly refusing refunds. Additionally, several long-term customers have noted that product formulas appear to have changed, with popular lines like Amazing Grace and Pure Grace no longer delivering the scent quality they previously offered.
A smaller subset of reviewers mention quality concerns beyond formula changes, describing products as low-quality relative to their price point. Shoppers have also flagged concerns about review moderation, suggesting that negative feedback may be systematically removed from the platform. The combination of logistics problems, unresponsive customer support, and product quality issues has led most reviewers to characterize their experience negatively, with a handful of five-star ratings being rare exceptions.

Sorted by: Most recentThe customer service setup here is pretty terrible. There's no phone line to call them, only a contact form on their website that honestly doesn't even work right. I've tried it several times. And when it comes to tracking orders, you're stuck unless you created an account with them. You can't look anything up with just an order number.
I've had the same problem as others where negative reviews get removed multiple times. Philosophy has changed the formula for a lot of their items, and honestly they don't smell nearly as good anymore. A bunch of longtime customers like me have noticed this, especially in their Amazing Grace and Pure Grace shower and body lines. When I used the new version of the body wash, it smelled really bad like harsh chemicals. I mentioned this in a review they were sent to me saying they wouldn't publish it. This happened with another review I left before too. It's really disappointing. I've been a great customer for years, but I've switched to other brands now.
My delivery status showed that a package arrived at my mailbox on July 23rd, 2025, except it never actually showed up. I bought translation earbuds using a debit card, and they were supposedly coming from Italy. I'm really upset that I haven't gotten what I purchased and my money's already been charged to my card.
My order never came and they won't give me back my money. The worst service possible, this place is totally a scam
The stuff they sell is pretty low quality, but the customer support makes it worse
Watch out for this brand. They filter out anything negative because it might hurt sales. I've purchased their stuff many times and generally enjoyed it, though the cost is steep so I only get it when there's a good sale going. Last time I bought a whipped body cream in Amazing Grace, which I've always loved. Just opened it and it smells like nothing, even though I bought it on sale three months back. Compared to my other Amazing Grace products I was really let down. I posted a three star review saying it was okay but had zero smell and left me disappointed. Wasn't mean about it either, but the company reached out saying they couldn't put it on their site because it would discourage people from buying. Seriously? So heads up on philosophy products because they're hiding all the negative reviews. You'll only see the good ones.
Had a couple frustrating situations. First time they didn't include the free bonus set that was supposed to come with a big purchase. Had to message them twice before getting a response. Second time the pump on a cream didn't work. I asked for a replacement pump. Instead they told me to pack it up and send it back to them with tracking. Why should I have to do that? I just needed a functioning pump.
The face cream burned my eyes the entire day even when I barely used it, keeping it well away from my eyes. Tried rinsing with eye wash and saline solution but philosophy's face cream just kept burning. This needs a class action lawsuit. Since Coty bought the company every single philosophy item is garbage. They blame it on environmental rules making them change ingredients. Don't buy that excuse. They switched everything up and threw in cheaper chemicals on purpose to boost profits. Look at the reviews and you'll see how much the quality has dropped across the board. Coty doesn't care if customers are unhappy or hurt by what they're selling. It's shameful, and Christina Carlino shares responsibility. When she let the company go without protecting the original product quality she basically turned her back on the customers who supported her from the start.
Would give this zero stars if I could. The quality of what I got was absolutely awful. I filed a dispute through my payment service to get my money back, but the shipping cost to return it is just as much as what I paid for it in the first place. If you're importing from overseas stay away unless they cover your return shipping. The way they advertised was dishonest. The decorative piece they sent has about a six inch space between the rubber parts, which they said would be plastic. Definitely not worth what they're asking for it.
I'm honestly shocked since I thought philosophy was actually trustworthy. Looks like I'm far from the only one dealing with a) getting zero help after ordering and b) waiting forever for things to show up. My stuff still hasn't arrived three weeks later even though they claim it's on the way. I really wish I'd read the other complaints first before buying. My suggestion to anyone thinking about placing an order would be simple: skip it. This company is absolutely terrible. They're rude, careless, and unreliable. They take your payment and then just ship things whenever they feel like it. Honestly just the worst. This is no way to handle customers who actually paid. Total scammers.
