What Shoppers Say About Proactiv
Proactiv is rated 1.2 out of 5 by 18 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. The dominant complaints center on subscription management and customer service failures: shoppers report difficulty canceling subscriptions, unexpected recurring charges, unresponsive support (contact forms go unanswered, customer service requests ignored), and refusal to help with order corrections or unauthorized shipments. Several reviewers mention having to dispute charges with their credit card companies to resolve issues. Beyond service concerns, some customers report the products themselves did not effectively treat acne.
A small number of shoppers gave positive ratings, though specific details about what they praised are not present in available reviews. The overwhelming pattern across reviews suggests systemic problems with subscription transparency, cancellation processes, and customer support responsiveness. Many shoppers characterize their experiences as scam-like, and several indicate they plan to escalate complaints to external authorities or media outlets.

Sorted by: Most recentI'm putting this here since Proactiv won't publish my feedback on their site. After being a loyal customer for over 10 years, I'm extremely let down by how they've been operating lately. I chose the 3 month auto-renewal plan thinking it would make things easier, but it's been the opposite. Every single month I wind up having to call customer service because something always goes wrong. I can't remember the last time an order went smoothly. Whether it's the wrong box, missing items, or a scheduled shipment that comes late or doesn't come at all, my products always arrive 2 to 3 weeks behind schedule. Their whole message is clear skin that stays clear, but that only happens if you actually get your treatment products on schedule. I really like the actual products themselves, but the hassle of getting them delivered isn't worth it anymore. If you want Proactiv, honestly find another brand instead. That's what I'm doing.
Since March I've been calling Proactiv every single month asking them to cancel and refund me, but the charges just keep coming. The customer service team is extremely rude and refuses to actually help. When I ask to talk to a manager, the representative tries to convince me the supervisor will just say the same thing. The products even caused painful skin irritation on my child, yet they won't stop billing me. I'm out almost $300 now. Whenever I push for a manager, they put me on hold forever and then just hang up on me.
Don't bother with these products. They simply don't work. Customer service is also terrible, and if you order online or get a membership, they take your money and never actually send anything. I've spent so much time on the phone trying to deal with their customer service department.
The company's philosophy seems to be we make a solid product so let's find ways to completely take advantage of our customers. Their brilliant strategy is charging $15 per shipment as a bogus base fee and splitting payments into three without making it obvious. Good products overall, but the company itself is shady and dishonest. I didn't catch what was happening at first, so who knows how long they were charging me just for being on their customer list.
I have nothing but good things to say about this physical therapy clinic on Broadway in Colorado. The team there, especially the owner, showed exceptional care in every way, treating patients with kindness and respect. After my knee surgery, they got me back to normal function really quickly. We also worked on my neck and back issues, and it really helped with my pain. They gave me exercises to keep doing at home so the pain stays away. I'm really grateful to them for how professional and helpful they were.
I can back up everything everyone else says about the subscription issues. The products themselves aren't terrible for acne, but they're not the best either. The real problem is the subscription model. You're charged monthly even though that's not advertised clearly, and random kits start showing up without you asking for them. Once they've shipped it's basically too late to get your money back since you have to cover the return costs. It's really unfortunate.
These people honestly don't deserve even one star. In my opinion they're misleading crooks. I thought I was the only one having problems until I saw all the other reviews here and realized this is a pattern. I never signed up for any membership, just bought a single bundle of products. This company deliberately makes things confusing to trick people into spending more money. Crooks. I hope people read the reviews and avoid giving this company or their partners any of their money. To everyone working there, I hope you can sleep at night knowing what you're part of.
I'm appalled at how rude the customer service reps are here. My friend accidentally signed up for a subscription without realizing it and tried to cancel, but was told it was cancelled only to have her card charged again. When she called back, the person was incredibly mean, basically telling her too bad and that she's locked in. I called to explain that she gets confused and didn't realize the subscription terms, and that she simply can't afford it. The attitude I got was unbelievable. It turns out it was the same rude person my friend talked to before. When I mentioned she struggles to understand written information and needs support, they didn't care at all. After working in customer service for decades, I'm shocked by how poorly they treat people. They clearly have zero concern about the stress and worry they're causing. This place is run by amateurs. Stay away.
