What Shoppers Say About Ruth’s Chris Steak House
Ruth's Chris Steak House receives sharply divided opinions from diners, with 19 shoppers rating it 3.2 out of 5. Enthusiastic patrons praise the restaurant for exceptional service, with servers earning particular recognition for attentiveness and care during special occasions. These satisfied customers highlight delicious food and celebratory experiences that justify the premium pricing. However, a significant portion of reviewers express disappointment with the value proposition, citing average or underwhelming steaks that don't justify the steep prices, and they note that comparable quality can be achieved at home for a fraction of the cost. Several diners also report operational inconsistencies, including slow service, delayed bread delivery, and improperly cooked steaks, which undermine the fine dining experience expected at this price point.
The restaurant's performance appears inconsistent across locations and occasions. While some guests leave with memorable birthday celebrations and five-star experiences, others encounter empty restaurants with struggling staff, poor timing of courses, and overcooked proteins. Drink prices and overall cost concerns recur in negative reviews, with diners questioning whether the meal quality and service justify Ruth's Chris pricing relative to other steakhouse options or home preparation.

Sorted by: Most recentThe food was just average and definitely not worth these ridiculous prices. I'm not coming back. I can grab a top sirloin from the grocery store for 10 or 12 bucks and cook it at home. Plus their drink costs are outrageous.
I was let down by this experience. The food was just okay honestly. The steak especially was underwhelming. Our server was really good though. It's too bad the kitchen didn't match his effort. I seriously doubt I'll return.
Came here to celebrate my birthday and had the best time. Our server Alyssa was outstanding. The food was delicious and she kept checking on us throughout the meal and gave us really attentive service.
Had reservations for 4 on Christmas at the Buckhead location in Atlanta and it was a nightmare. We were seated 15 minutes late. Drinks took forever. One salad came out 15 minutes before the others. Bread didn't arrive until 30-40 minutes after we sat down. Two steaks came overcooked, with one ribeye that should have been medium but was cooked well done. My steak knife was filthy with grease and fat on it. Our waiter Russell did offer to replace the bad ribeye but then we waited 40 more minutes for it while everyone else finished eating. Russell was trying his best and apologized sincerely, and the manager did comp one steak, but he was clearly handling too many tables at once. We had guests visiting from out of town and I was really embarrassed. I won't go back to Ruth Chris or recommend them.
We've been going to Ruth's for special occasions across the country for years but last night changed everything. We had a 6 PM reservation in Greenville on Saturday the 30th and arrived to find the restaurant almost empty, which we liked because we could actually hear each other talk. The staff seemed to be struggling to get rolling for the evening, with newer team members still getting their bearings. Our appetizers and salads came at the same time, but our main courses were missing. Nearly an hour after we ordered, the main courses finally started coming out. As the server came around the bar with a high tray to avoid another employee, there was an accident and our food ended up all over the floor. The staff seemed lost about how to handle the cleanup while we just sat there waiting. About 10 minutes later someone explained our meals were being remade and would come out soon. An hour after that mess, at 8:20, our meals arrived. The steaks were good as always but the sides were cold. We asked our waiter to warm up the potatoes since they were too cold for the butter to melt.
Just had an incredible experience celebrating my boyfriend's birthday on 10/12! This was hands down the best dining I've ever had. I've eaten at their Ft. Lauderdale and Coral Gables locations before, but this Aventura spot topped them all. From the moment we sat down and the host put confetti on our table to the manager checking in on us, everything was perfect. Our server Dasia B. provided absolutely wonderful service with such a warm smile. The whole experience was outstanding, honestly 5 stars and if there were higher I'd give it. Thank you so much for making this such a special and welcoming night.
The sweet potato casserole and brussels sprouts were delicious. Our table was a bit unstable and caused our drinks to spill, but the team quickly moved us to another table to fix it.
The au gratin potatoes might be the best thing I've ever tasted. The steak was pretty awesome too.
I've been a customer for 30 years but I'm done. I reserved a nice window table a month ahead for my wife's birthday and they stuck us in a back booth. The waiter was neglectful, slow, and pretty much rude.
My wife and I went to the Tulsa location last night for happy hour at the bar where we've eaten a few times in the past. We usually loved the steak sandwich but yesterday the quality was really poor. The meat wasn't tender at all and had way too much gristle in it. Ruth's Chris is famous for quality steaks but I doubt they'd serve filet with these issues in the main dining room. Seems like they think it's acceptable to serve lower quality meat during happy hour.
