What Shoppers Say About Sounds True
Sounds True is rated 1.1 out of 5 by 25 shoppers, with 92 percent of reviews giving one star. The overwhelming majority of complaints center on deceptive business practices, particularly automatic subscription renewals that customers report are difficult to cancel. Shoppers also describe persistent technical problems with content access and the media player, poor customer service responses, and a shift toward an expensive membership model that reviewers say offers lower quality material than the company's previous product offerings.
A smaller number of reviewers mention additional frustrations including inability to listen to purchases offline, higher prices compared to competitors, inadequate troubleshooting support shifted to customers, and unresolved refund requests. Very few positive reviews appear in the recent feedback, and those recommending the company are essentially absent from the current review data.

Sorted by: Most recentWatch out when buying their courses and audio content. Sounds True automatically bundles their membership with certain purchases without making it obvious, and they charge $19.99 monthly for it. The pricing doesn't change so it's super easy to miss. They say canceling is simple whenever you want but there's no online cancel button. The way they've set it up is shady - they pre-select the choice that locks you into an auto-renewing membership but then claim you can cancel online whenever you want, which isn't actually true.
They keep charging me for a membership that I never signed up for! I've been trying to reach them and they won't respond. I just wanted to buy one CD from a music compilation and never agreed to any membership. Going to call my credit card company to stop the charges. What a total rip-off. I bought some music from them years back with no issues, but this was supposed to be a single purchase only. Just be aware of what you're getting into with them.
I've been with this company since they were selling cassettes. Their app is so badly broken that accessing my big collection of stuff I've purchased is next to impossible. Since I don't have internet at home, I have to go somewhere with wifi to download things, and that's a hassle.
I'm locked out of everything I bought. They said they'd send me an access code but never did. My password won't reset even though I know it's correct and the system just rejects it. I feel cheated - I've paid for digital content I literally cannot access.
Used to be a fan of this company back in the day and purchased quite a bit from them, but I'm done now. After switching to their new platform, it's become really hard to find and use products. One of my purchases ended up with a bunch of missing content and is basically incomplete. I've contacted their support team multiple times and they haven't resolved it at all. Really frustrated that they got rid of the download option too - everything has to play through the app now. Doesn't feel customer-friendly at all. Not planning to spend any more money with Sounds True.
I'm facing the same issues as everyone else - I somehow got a membership I never asked for. I purchased just one course in late 2023 and don't recall any membership offer, but now they're billing me $19.99 monthly. I can't figure out how to cancel without canceling my entire credit card.
I'd give them zero stars if I could. Total ripoff. I purchased one class back in January and got charged $15.60. I didn't buy a membership. Then on March 1st my bank account was charged $21.66 and I can't find what that's even for. I keep asking the chatbot what this charge was and all I get is lists of articles that don't help at all. When I call the customer service line, I just get a message saying no one's available.
I need to warn folks about this company. I signed up for a specific class that had nothing to do with their membership program, but they added a free month of membership without me requesting it. Then I got an email saying they'd be charging me for the next month, though they did give cancellation instructions. When I tried to cancel following their steps, there was no cancel button anywhere. I emailed their support and they said they'd cancel and refund me before they even charged me. The next day they took $19.99 from my account anyway. I sent another message to the same person and got no reply. I've always respected this company but this looks like a scam to me. I'll probably get it resolved eventually but wanted to let people know - if you buy from them, watch yourself carefully.
I'm unable to access the courses I purchased for over $500. The chatbot just gives me random articles that have nothing to do with my problem, and there's no way to talk to an actual person by phone. I spent an hour waiting for online support before I realized there basically isn't any customer service available. Don't send them your money!
