What Shoppers Say About Spartan Race
Spartan Race is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 16 shoppers, with reviews highlighting a stark divide between the racing experience and company operations. Shoppers consistently praise the races themselves as fun and engaging events, but this positive assessment is overwhelmed by severe complaints about customer service, order fulfillment, and unresponsive support channels. Multiple reviewers report spending hundreds of dollars on tickets or season passes without receiving digital tickets or merchandise, with attempts to contact customer service going unanswered for weeks. The company has also drawn criticism for not honoring its own ticket policies, such as allowing transfers or deferrals when circumstances change.
Beyond customer service failures, shoppers report operational issues at actual race events, including late starts, poor-quality food and beverages with visible defects, understaffing of volunteers, and unexpected additional charges for race photos. The cumulative effect of these complaints suggests that while the core race product has merit, the company's inability or unwillingness to support customers before, during, and after events has created significant frustration. No reviewers on RetailCoupons.com recommend the service based on the current evidence.

Sorted by: Most recentStay away. Do not recommend. Find a different company. Their customer service is absolutely shocking. My friend and I spent weeks trying to get help with a straightforward issue with no luck. Since there's no option for less than one star, I'm giving one which is honestly way too generous for how they treated us. Two reps, Arbie and Eric, didn't answer our questions and completely missed what we were asking for. Really disappointed and let down. Do they actually care? Seems like maybe someone felt obligated to respond. I've been a customer for years with zero problems until I needed their help, and that's when they stop being responsive. It's unbelievable that they refuse to assist when something goes wrong. I will absolutely never book with them again. Avoid them completely.
Serious legal concerns regarding historical and cultural origins have been filed in federal court regarding this organization.
Absolutely the worst experience. I won't be signing up for any Spartan races going forward. Read the other reviews too because people consistently warn against giving money to this organization.
Would rate zero stars if I could because it's pure greed. Skip them entirely. Basic customer protections don't apply here. My first race was actually decent but I'll never do another one. They operate without integrity.
My husband and I have done tons of spartan races over the years and brought many friends along. We bought tickets for 2019 but couldn't make it, so they let us transfer to a later race for $20 per person with a 1 year expiration. Then COVID hit and there were no races available to transfer to. Recently we tried getting the transfer arranged and even offered to pay extra for price increases, but they refused to extend the deadline, claiming it "wouldn't be fair" to others. That's ridiculous - plenty of businesses extended their gift card policies during the pandemic so people weren't paying for nothing. We're done with Spartan after this and we're not alone based on the reviews.
This company has built-in systems designed to extract money from customers at every turn. Their gift card options are only $50 and $100, but when you buy a ticket plus race fees plus insurance, they pocket whatever balance is left over and won't refund it even if you ask. My race got cancelled during the pandemic and instead of a real refund, they gave me a code to register for a future event with a one year deadline. That event was also cancelled and moved to a date I couldn't make, costing me 2 tickets and fees. A year later, my husband injured his hand and we had to move his ticket to a friend. Even though my husband had paid for the ticket and all associated charges, he had to pay another $15 to transfer it. Then my friend was hit with an additional $50 in insurance and parking fees that my husband had already covered. They operate like a scam and frankly deserve legal action.
