Our flight from Manchester was running 2 hours late, which caused us to miss our next flight from Istanbul. When we got to the airport, they required us to get a visa because we had about 20 hours before our next departure. The airport staff was awful and completely unhelpful. We ended up stranded with a baby who was only 8 months old, getting shuffled between different desks with no one willing to actually help us.
This airline was fantastic on our recent round trip from Edinburgh through Istanbul to Cairo. This is the way air travel should be handled. Everything was included in the fare - luggage, complimentary headphones with tons of movies, TV, music and game options. The in flight food was delicious and also part of the ticket price. I would definitely suggest them to anyone flying.
Took a trip from Birmingham to Bangkok with a stop in Istanbul. Both flights arrived right on schedule, and the crew members were fantastic with excellent service. No complaints at all. It seems like most of the negative feedback out there focuses on compensation issues, flight delays, and missed connections - a lot of which are honestly beyond what any airline can control. If you end up missing your flight for whatever reason, that's really on you, not the airline. As for compensation, just like with any carrier, you have to meet specific requirements. I thought this airline performed really well overall.
I'm recommending this airline based on fantastic experiences compared to many other carriers I've tried. After over 30 trips in five years, they've given us the finest customer service I've experienced. Egypt Air and Qatar Airways also deliver good service but at much steeper prices. Based on my travels, I'd also suggest avoiding Lufthansa, Royal Dutch, and Italia at any cost.

I had another good experience with their subsidiary getting a refund within 24 hours too. I should have taken them up on the refund plus extra percentage as a travel credit, but honestly in these uncertain times it's nice knowing that unlike most UK carriers or other international airlines where I've needed chargebacks, this one actually handles refunds properly. For me they're the gold standard like Jet2 back home, which is a huge factor when I'm picking flights. Years ago I stopped using third party booking sites after a nightmare with one of them, and I bet a lot of those negative refund stories come from people booking through those middlemen. Yeah, if you book direct with them the prices are slightly higher, but fixing problems is way easier and faster when you go straight to the airline. That's been my experience across all carriers.
