Wine Express Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Wine Express
Wine Express receives highly polarized reviews, with shoppers either praising quick delivery, competitive pricing, and good product selection, or experiencing significant frustration with shipping delays, unexpected fees, and poor communication. Satisfied customers highlight accurate orders, free shipping promotions, and competitive sales pricing. However, dissatisfied customers consistently report problems with delivery notifications failing to arrive, orders sitting in processing for extended periods without clarity, signature requirements not disclosed upfront, and most critically, aggressive restocking fees (20% of purchase price) combined with $25 shipping deductions applied to returns or failed deliveries, which multiple reviewers describe as impractical and unfair.
The core complaint pattern centers on lack of transparency regarding delivery logistics and return policies. Customers report discovering unfavorable terms only after problems arise, including surprise signature requirements and substantial fees that apply even when issues are beyond the customer's control. While some shoppers have positive experiences with product quality and pricing, the low overall rating reflects that many customers feel misled about how the service actually works, particularly regarding what happens when delivery complications occur.

Sorted by: Most recentEverything came exactly when it should have and everything was correct. Nice selection and competitive pricing on their sales.
There were some real issues with how this was handled. Nobody mentioned upfront that I'd need to sign for the delivery, and the tracking notifications kept saying it would arrive only to show up the next day instead. What really bothered me was finding out later that their refund policy includes a $25 shipping deduction plus a 20% restocking charge. Not impressed with their approach. I won't be ordering from them again.
This whole experience was absolutely terrible. I placed an order on the 17th and wanted it before month's end. My order just sat in processing for four days. By the 21st, I discovered on their website that nothing would ship until the 26th due to weather concerns. I called to cancel, and a representative promised they'd take care of it. Then an hour and a half later, I got a notice saying the order had somehow been shipped. Later that same day, an email came through saying pickup wouldn't happen until the 26th anyway, which I had specifically said I did NOT want when I called. They basically forced the sale through even though I rejected it and then made up excuses about not being able to cancel a package that hadn't even shipped yet. I'm disputing this charge for fraud and filing a complaint with the BBB.
Really impressed with how quickly my order arrived and the overall quality of service. The pricing was fantastic and I got free shipping on top of it.
Had a bad time with their shipping process and the unexpected charges if the package can't be delivered. The person I sent it to didn't get a shipping alert, and by the time I found out it was coming back, they'd already charged me $25 for the return plus 20% restocking. This really isn't a practical service when those fees are involved.
Really pleased with my fall order from this company. They had the wine I was looking for in stock at a solid 19% discount plus free shipping. Since I'm on the opposite coast, I took a chance ordering in November, figuring the cooler weather would keep things safe. I saw some negative feedback afterward and got a little worried, but the package showed up eight days later in perfect shape. The wine was carefully packed in molded cardboard trays with good padding. No ice was necessary since it wasn't an overnight situation. The communication was solid too, starting with an email receipt and tracking info via UPS. Best bet is to place your order when temperatures are working in your favor.
This is my last order from this place. Their advertising looks great and the deals seem solid, but actually getting your order fulfilled is a nightmare. After I bought something, I got a message from UPS saying next day delivery. I wasn't holding my breath. Nothing for ten whole days, and when I finally tried to stop the order because it got too hot to ship wine in Texas, they insisted it was already gone. Meanwhile, UPS had zero record of it. I get wine from a couple different clubs and we never run into this kind of mess. I'm just going to the local store going forward.
I'd give them ZERO STARS if I could! This outfit shipped three expensive bottles to me in Florida using ground delivery without any ice packs. The whole thing cost over $200 and took more than ten days to arrive. When I opened them, the wine tasted rotten and was undrinkable. They asked me to send the bottles back for credit, but how am I supposed to know they're bad without opening them first? This company has no business shipping wine to hot climates and doesn't actually stand behind their guarantee. Avoid this place at all costs. I trust the professional wine retailers from now on. WILL NOT ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!
The team there goes above and beyond with their customer support. Kim especially was fantastic! Can't say enough good things about this place!
I was very clear that I did NOT want wine shipped until temperatures improved. I received three bottles worth almost $900 and they showed up on a day when it was in the mid-90s outside. The packaging was just a plain box with nothing inside for protection, no foam, no ice. What were you thinking? I need to speak with someone who actually makes decisions here, or I'm disputing every charge until this gets worked out. I have no idea if those wines are still good given the heat they were exposed to. The box didn't even say fragile or keep cool. I work with wines from lots of upscale vineyards and buy from your competitors too. You should be embarrassed. I feel robbed. This has happened before and I let it slide, but when I saw the shipment went out I assumed you'd keep it cool. These aren't cheap bottles we're talking about. I'm waiting to hear from someone in charge. I've been in this industry for four decades and I'm not someone you can ignore. Fire your shipping team. I'm deeply disappointed.
