What Shoppers Say About YouMail
YouMail is rated 1.6 out of 5 by 12 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. The primary complaints center on ineffective spam call blocking (calls still getting through despite the service's core purpose), confusing or malfunctioning app interfaces, unresponsive customer support, and difficulty obtaining refunds. Shoppers also report issues with unwanted call blocking, call rerouting problems, and billing practices where charges occur before trial periods are honored. One long-time user mentioned appreciating the service for years but encountered problems after upgrading their phone.
Few shoppers recommend YouMail based on available feedback. Those who gave higher ratings represent a small minority, while the overwhelming number of one-star reviews indicate fundamental problems with both the service's effectiveness and the company's customer service responsiveness. Multiple reviewers describe the experience as frustrating enough to prompt switching to competitor services, and several express skepticism about what YouMail actually delivers for spam protection.

Sorted by: Most recentGot tired of all the spam and phishing texts, so I downloaded this app thinking it had everything I needed. The premium subscription includes a second phone number that supposedly works for calls, texts, and voicemail. Once I set it up, I realized it wasn't catching text messages on my main line. YouMail doesn't actually block SMS spam on Android, just flags suspicious ones. I emailed support asking if I could get the messaging feature to work with my main number instead of the secondary one. Their response showed they didn't even read what I wrote. When I clarified that I wanted to use their messaging app with my primary line or switch between lines, they said the messaging feature only works with one line and YouMail hardcodes it to the secondary number. So I spent a lot of money and got stuck with a feature I can't even use the way I need.
The app does a fantastic job blocking robocalls, so major props for that. However, the contact management is pretty buggy with my Samsung phone. When I delete someone from my contacts, they stay in YouMail and I have to delete them manually. Also, if you're using the free version, customer support is basically nonexistent unless you upgrade.
