What Shoppers Say About Wrench/YourMechanic
YourMechanic receives highly polarized reviews, with 78 percent of shoppers giving five stars and praising the convenience of at-home service and professional technician performance when appointments proceed smoothly. However, a significant portion of one-star reviews highlight serious operational issues: missed appointments with no communication, no-shows despite confirmation texts, quoted prices that do not match final bills, and technicians arriving unprepared or failing to complete jobs. Some customers report warranty disappointments and questions about the quality of repair work, particularly when issues resurface shortly after service.
The core complaint across negative reviews centers on reliability and accountability rather than technical skill. Shoppers describe frustration with scheduling failures, unhelpful staff responses, and feeling that the service does not deliver on its promises. The polarized rating distribution suggests YourMechanic's performance varies significantly depending on location, technician, or service type, making the customer experience unpredictable.

Sorted by: Most recentThis place uses a classic bait-and-switch scheme. They quoted me a reasonable price that seemed fair. I got my appointment confirmed with text reminders leading up to it. When the day arrived, I sat around for 2 hours waiting for the technician to show. Nobody called or came by, so I had to contact them myself. When I reached out, they told me the tech never came because there was a new estimate I needed to sign off on before they could start. Turns out that original $340 quote jumped to $570 because they said the hours needed were different than what the online request showed. They claimed internet requests aren't accurate and have to be adjusted manually. I never got any notification about this change via text or email beforehand. Total waste of my time. They're refunding the amount they held, but this isn't how a trustworthy business should operate. It feels like they're betting customers won't have time to find someone else after they deliberately caused this mess.
I went through the site to get my hybrid's 12-volt battery replaced. The technician showed up right on schedule, acted professionally, and the at-home service was incredibly convenient. No issues there. The problem was the battery warranty. It only covered 12 months, and mine died just 4 months later. That's a real bummer and ended up being expensive, especially when you're dealing with a hybrid that needs quality components. The company does excel at being convenient and having professional staff, but before you commit to a big repair like a battery replacement, definitely ask what kind of warranty they're offering.
The prices quoted don't match reality, staff is unhelpful and disrespectful. The mechanic didn't actually solve the problem, billed me anyway, and left without finishing the job. Completely unprofessional and not worth using.
I posted my original experience back in July about a mechanic showing up without his tools. After reading through 30 to 40 different reviews, I noticed something really strange. Looking at about 30 reviews that were all 1 star, they seemed to be written by men. Out of those 30, there were four 5 star reviews, and every single one came from women. I'm pretty convinced Wrench posted those four fake reviews themselves. It sends the message that they only want women as customers and don't care about male customers. Whether you're a man or woman, skip this company. They're running a scam and deserve to shut down.
I've worked with this company in the past when I had a fuel pump replaced, but after just a year it's failing again, which makes me question if the work was done right the first time. Back in July I called to get a gasket fixed and booked an appointment. They called and cancelled. So I scheduled another one, and I waited all day for nothing. They called to cancel around 2 hours after the scheduled time. Meanwhile, they charge customers $150 for showing up late, but what about when they cancel on us the same day and hours after our appointment? That's incredibly disrespectful. I had other work on hold and couldn't reschedule anything because of them. It's not professional at all. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know. They're not dependable.
This mechanic helped me out by figuring out the brake issue wasn't actually the problem. Looking forward to getting it sorted out now.
Skilled, punctual, compassionate, and went the extra mile investigating what was causing my truck to malfunction.
The mechanic was outstanding. He pinpointed the issue and got my car repaired the same day.
The mechanic was incredibly knowledgeable and treated me with lots of respect. My car stopped leaking because he diagnosed what the dealership had messed up. I drive a 2005 Infiniti FX and it barely has any miles on it. The dealership had swapped out the power steering hose, but after that it started leaking. When I brought it back, they claimed it was a different part now leaking. I didn't trust what they were saying anymore, so I decided to try this service since I'd had good experiences getting spark plugs replaced here. I'm really glad I scheduled an appointment, and I'm thrilled that the mechanic fixed it properly. The leak is completely gone now. Really grateful.
