Promo Code Not Working? Try This

  • Verify that you copied the entire code correctly, including any letters, numbers, or special characters, as even small errors will cause it to fail.
  • Check the code's expiration date on RetailCoupons.com to ensure it is still active and has not passed its end date.
  • Confirm that your purchase meets any minimum purchase requirement the code may have, as some codes only work on orders above a certain amount.
  • Review the code's restrictions to see if it applies to your specific product category or product type, since some codes exclude certain items.

Seagate Technology is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 18 shoppers, with reviews split sharply between satisfied customers and those experiencing significant product and service issues. Positive reviews highlight reliability and durability, with some customers reporting years of trouble-free operation from their drives. However, recurring complaints center on hardware failures occurring shortly after purchase, inadequate customer support responses, confusing software interfaces, documentation issues, checkout and fulfillment problems on the Seagate website, and mismatches between product labeling and actual specifications. Several reviewers report catastrophic data loss and express frustration with limited recourse when issues arise outside warranty periods.

Common negative experiences include external drives developing corrupted file structures or mechanical failures within weeks of use, difficulty obtaining proper invoices and receipts for business purchases, unhelpful customer service interactions, and instances where shipping errors resulted in deliveries to incorrect addresses. A few customers also reported confusion with bundled software that lacks clear instructions. While some shoppers remain loyal to the brand based on past positive experiences, recent reviews suggest current product quality and customer service reliability may not meet expectations, particularly for those requiring responsive support or detailed documentation.

Stay away from these external drives. Mine developed errors straight out of the box and wouldn't let me see my folders because of corrupted file structures. When I contacted support, they basically didn't care since it was past the warranty period. All my personal data is gone now. These devices are worthless and I'll never buy from them again.

I ordered three 4TB drives from Seagate, they arrived fine, but I never got an invoice or receipt. Since this was a business purchase, I need that paperwork for accounting and tax purposes. I've reached out to Seagate multiple times with no real response, and this review is basically my fourth attempt to get the invoice. I've also tried using their support portal from different devices and browsers and nothing's worked. After weeks of being ignored, it feels like the company is deliberately making it hard to get basic customer support after a sale. It's been nearly a month and still nothing's resolved. They took my money, sent the drives, but won't give me what I legally need. If this isn't fixed soon, I'll have to take legal steps.

Absolutely avoid this company. Last December, I grabbed an 8TB drive, loaded 7.5TB of data onto it, and it completely failed after just over a month. The data was gone and the drive was clicking bad. It was running inside my desktop the whole time. When I went to pull it out, the back SATA connector plastic snapped off, and the retailer refused to take it back citing physical damage. Lost all my files and spent three hundred dollars for nothing. Figured I'd try again and bought two 20TB external models in January to be safer, planning to keep one as a backup copy. Both started making weird noises right away, so I bought the second one a week later as insurance. The backup went into storage while I kept using the main one. By March 1st, the original already started acting up. Honestly, twenty years ago I'd have sworn Seagate was the only company worth buying from. Now they're no better than the old Maxtor drives, just fancy decorations for a world that doesn't need them anymore.

Bought an external drive for my Xbox and the system wouldn't recognize it. Got it checked out and found out the internal drive was only 500GB even though the case is labeled as 5TB. When I contacted them about this, they basically told me that since the internal component didn't match the external case, I wasn't eligible for a refund. Apparently they put the wrong part inside and sold it to me, but that's somehow my problem now. The component even had a defect marking on it. This is really poor quality control and even worse customer service.

My old Seagate external drive worked perfectly for years with Windows file history. The new one comes loaded with its own software but it's completely confusing. The manual doesn't have any diagrams, so it's impossible to actually understand what you're looking at. For example, the first instruction says to go to the main menu, but the interface doesn't look like it has a main menu anywhere. Support links are broken. It keeps telling me the backup was successful, then immediately says it failed. There's no obvious way to choose what files to back up. Since this wasn't cheap, I'm pretty disappointed and frankly worried that nothing's actually being backed up. It's only halfway through and I already can't recommend it.

Ordering from the Canadian Seagate shop was a nightmare. It took me eight hours of repeatedly typing in my information just to finish the checkout, and even after all that effort and entering my address over and over, they still managed to ship it to the wrong place. Getting through to customer service took forever, and when I finally did, they said the package was already on its way so they couldn't fix it. They basically told me I was out of luck and would have to contact the carrier myself. All that wasted time makes what seemed like a decent deal completely worthless, especially if I can't even get the shipment rerouted to where I actually live.

I've relied on Seagate for years but this one was a real headache. It came preformatted as exFAT with an EFI setup instead of the NTFS I'm used to seeing on other Seagate desktop models, and it definitely felt like it had been previously configured for something else. I only discovered this after I'd already loaded 4TB onto it, which meant I spent days backing everything off, wiping the drive, and transferring it all back on. Plus the packaging advertises USB-C compatibility, but really those ports are just for data transfer, not for powering the drive itself. This whole experience has really shaken my faith in the brand. Make absolutely sure you check what format yours comes in before you start using it.

Picked up a Seagate Expansion Portable 1TB unit to store all my documents, photos, and videos on my computer. The price was reasonable and it also works great for backing up my entire system.

My external hard drive stopped working and thankfully I still had my warranty active. The team stepped up and recovered all my data, then sent me a brand new replacement drive at no cost. Throughout the entire process, they were responsive and knowledgeable, answering all my questions both over the phone and through their chat system. I had a great experience working with Theo and the rest of their support crew. Really happy with how they handle products and stand behind their customer service promise.

I work with higher-end Exos series drives rather than the budget Barracuda models, and I've been really satisfied. Seagate's always honored their warranty without hassle, the drives perform well, and pricing is fair for the capacity you get. What's impressed me most is how responsive their customer support team is and how far the reliability has come. Compared to a decade ago, the failure rates are night and day better. I've noticed serious quality improvements across the board since I started using their products.

Had a Samsung hard drive that turned out to be manufactured by Seagate, and it developed a problem that locked me out of all my files. I shipped it off to them and got back a replacement drive with all my documents and photos successfully restored from the faulty unit. Their service was outstanding.

Highly recommend this company. When my external drive failed, I figured it was okay since my cloud had everything. I called support and they were phenomenal. The representative let me know I actually had a warranty that I wasn't aware of and said recovery would take about thirty days, though nothing was guaranteed. Data showed back up in just over two weeks with everything perfectly recovered. I wasn't expecting them to send an extra drive too, which was a pleasant surprise. When I started copying files to the new one, I found out it had twice the capacity of what I originally bought. Transfer speeds are really fast as well. Yes, there are plenty of negative reviews out there, but my experience has been completely positive. Hardware fails sometimes and that's just how it goes. What matters is having a company that actually backs its products. A friendly reminder to everyone though, always keep two copies of important data. Really appreciate everything Seagate did.

My 5TB drive suddenly stopped working so I contacted the warranty department. They covered shipping costs to get it to their facility in another country and paid for everything. They recovered my entire data collection and mailed it back free since it was warranty covered, plus they sent a replacement hard drive. Unfortunately, the carrier damaged the drive with my recovered data during transit, but Seagate immediately sent another copy and even covered the import fees a second time. Their support team really demonstrated what customer service should look like. The only downside is that everything moves slowly and you need a lot of patience. Big thanks to the entire support team for being so helpful and responsive.

Just had an outstanding experience with Seagate support. My hard drive died and I couldn't get to my files anymore. They told me I'd need to ship it all the way from the UK to their Netherlands facility. I ran into a couple shipping snags but one of their team members went above and beyond to help me sort everything out. They did a fantastic job pulling all my data back and actually upgraded me to a better hard drive than what I had originally. Huge thanks to Seagate and especially to the operator who helped me work through the shipping issue.

I'm thrilled to share that my experience with Seagate's data recovery service has been wonderful, which I know isn't everyone's story. My iCloud photo library mysteriously vanished one day, taking about twelve thousand pictures spanning over ten years with it. To make matters worse, my backup drive had failed a month earlier, meaning that dead unit was my only shot at recovery. Thankfully, it was still under warranty and came with a recovery service that I'd honestly forgotten about when I bought it. Jay from their European recovery center was incredibly helpful and patient. After about two months, I received a replacement backup drive and a new Seagate unit loaded with all my restored files and photos. Getting those precious family images back means the world to us. I owe their recovery team enormous thanks. Not every customer may have had my luck, but I absolutely believe in recommending this service based on what they did for me.
