It's completely unacceptable that a brand positioning itself as high-end refuses to share basic safety information about their products. I asked them about the expiration date of something I purchased and provided the batch code. They admitted they had this information but wouldn't tell me. A luxury brand should absolutely provide product safety and expiration details to customers who paid for items. While they say they don't sell expired products, they're clearly selling items very close to expiry that will expire shortly after the period of applicability begins.

The main reason people purchase this brand is because of the bright neon packaging.

Someone fraudulently created an account using my email address with Sol de Janeiro and I ended up receiving all their order confirmations and promotional emails. This happened because the company doesn't verify email addresses when signing up. I was able to see the person's name and location through these emails. The biggest problem is that Sol de Janeiro's lack of verification essentially enables this kind of fraud. When I contacted them to cancel the fraudulent order and delete the account, I just got back generic responses that didn't actually solve anything. They're not taking this seriously.

I'm satisfied with a handful of items but most things are just average. The body wash barely foams up and the body oil is annoying to rinse away. Skip the lip balm completely. Scents 62 and 68 are clearly the best options. The Bum Bum Cream is the only lotion worth using. The rest seem poorly designed with heavy consistency and underwhelming fragrance. What really bothers me is the unboxing experience which is totally forgettable. No special branded box, no decorative tissue, no branded stickers or tape. Everything ships in a plain cardboard box. It sends a message that you don't care about the customer experience after purchase or how much we value your business. Sol de Janeiro is an okay brand but it's definitely not positioning itself as true luxury.

My order still hasn't shipped after more than a week. They charged my card but nothing has been sent out. There's no holiday or explanation for the delay. I've tried reaching out three separate times and keep getting what feels like automated responses with zero follow-up. I also requested a refund which I still haven't gotten. At this point I'll have to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau because it feels like they're just keeping my money without any intention to actually fulfill the order.

They shut down the sale right when I was finishing my purchase. Fortunately I found the same products on sale at Ulta for 20% off so it worked out.

I had an allergic reaction to the small size Bum Bum Cream I bought and can't seem to reach anyone on the UK customer service line. I was shocked to discover that one of the main ingredients is Dodecane. This chemical is a known irritant that's actually a gasoline component used as a solvent, in aircraft fuel testing, as a distillation chaser, and in rubber and paper manufacturing. It's concerning because it has potential carcinogenic properties.

I absolutely adore Sol de Janeiro and their products have an amazing smell. Every single item I've ordered from them has been fantastic. I always tell people to check them out.
