Ollies Reviews
Ollies is rated 1.6 out of 5 by 20 shoppers, with the vast majority of reviews expressing serious dissatisfaction. The most consistent complaints center on store cleanliness and maintenance issues, with multiple shoppers reporting dirty aisles, blocked shopping areas, and poorly maintained bathrooms across different locations. Additional significant concerns involve problems with the store's credit card program, where customers report difficulty activating cards, account shutdowns after fraud reviews, and frustrating customer service interactions requiring ID verification.
A small portion of shoppers report positive experiences, suggesting the store's appeal lies in its merchandise selection when conditions permit. However, the overwhelming pattern of one-star reviews points to systemic operational and management issues. Complaints also include understaffing that prevents proper store maintenance and staff interactions ranging from unhelpful to aggressive. These recurring problems suggest that structural issues, rather than isolated incidents, are driving customer dissatisfaction across multiple store locations.
I normally like this place but the Lake City store was rough. Every single aisle was blocked with stacked boxes everywhere. I asked a cashier what was happening and she just said they do their best by day's end and they're short on people. Hope they get their act together so customers can actually shop around.
Skip the credit card, seriously. Our new local store had me fill out an application and I got approved. Card arrived and I tried activating it online but it wouldn't work. Customer service said it was under review by fraud and to expect an email. That email came saying they shut down my account. Looked it up and this is apparently what they do all the time. They also did a hard pull on my credit. Don't waste your effort.
This place is ridiculous. They email asking for ID copies for security then tell you it doesn't work when you send it. Don't ever bother with their credit card. You'll regret it. The financing company is garbage too. Seriously just skip the whole thing.
Went into the Bristol location on Euclid and both the bathroom and aisles looked nasty. Turned right back around and washed my shoes off in a puddle outside. Skip this store completely.
The McKeesport location turned out to be a terrible experience. Asked the manager why the restrooms were locked and she completely lost it, yelling and getting aggressive. She wouldn't tell me her name and actually followed me out the door screaming, even threatened to call police. When I pushed back she shouted out her name and made a rude comment. Completely unprofessional and hostile. Won't be going back and would warn anyone else about how they treat customers there.
The location on Berry Road in Kansas City was absolutely disgusting. The bathroom had me ready to get sick. I mentioned it to someone at the register and she basically said there was nothing she could do. That store won't see me again.
Amazing experience here. The whole team was super helpful and the person ringing me up was friendly and efficient.
It's exactly what you pay for. They buy closeout merchandise in bulk cheap and resell it slightly higher. Problem is most of this stuff comes from big store returns. You're better off paying a bit more at regular retailers where you get an actual warranty for a couple years instead of just thirty days.
Quality is pretty rough here. Bought two items and neither worked. One was labeled as a motion sensor light but I exchanged it three times and still didn't function as shown on the packaging. The other had a cut battery wire from bad assembly. Good luck getting customer service on the phone either because I tried multiple times over two days and only hit the machine. Go somewhere you can actually trust, not this place with used or broken merchandise.
I shopped here for many years and figured I'd get the credit card. Got denied and that was it for me. Not coming back.
Bought a heater in late April for $40 to use at the office. Fast forward a few months and the power button broke. Took it back for a return but they wouldn't accept it. For the same price I could've bought something better from a regular store that actually lasts. Shopping elsewhere from now on. This place stinks.
Grabbed a portable air conditioner for $330 and found out afterwards it needs window or wall venting. Now I'm out the money with a unit that doesn't even cool my bedroom properly. The room stays hot as an oven with no improvement at all.
If I could give zero stars I would. This was my first and last visit. Picked up an air fryer but the racks wouldn't fit because the interior was warped. The staff put it back on the shelf even though I explained it was defective. I tried buying a different one and it charred everything. Both units went back. Pretty sure they just end up back on display. Total garbage.
Would rate zero stars if possible. Came in looking for something from the ad and couldn't locate it. Asked a cashier for help and got told they were slammed. When I asked if anyone else could assist, the answer was just no with no effort to find someone. Eventually another worker helped and said the item wasn't in stock. The customer service here is awful.
