Got an Alienware 18 Area 51 and it was DOA basically. Blue screen errors right when I tried to access sound settings. The Dell remote support didn't help so I had to navigate their website the long way to find actual help. The tech guy spent hours on it then told me to do a fresh Windows install. After that it stopped recognizing the speakers entirely. Still within the first day and Dell remote support was useless again. They wouldn't replace it until they supposedly diagnosed the issue which never happened. Sent it back. Awful company and I won't be shopping with them again. Still hunting for a decent laptop.

Alienware has major compatibility issues with Microsoft products and apparently the people running these companies don't want to talk to each other about fixing it. This needs to get sorted out immediately.

I really wanted to own an Alienware computer but it turned out to be one of my biggest buying mistakes. I have tons of details about what went wrong but can't paste the full review here. I spent over seven thousand dollars on a complete Alienware package from Dell which included a laptop, two monitors, and a desktop. From day one it's been a disaster. One monitor showed up broken and needed replacing. The desktop had problems too and they sent a replacement. That replacement also failed so they swapped out the motherboard, CPU, and cooling unit. The new components still didn't work right. The technician tried putting the old parts back but now the whole thing is dead. He basically said he couldn't fix it and told me to contact support. I've been going back and forth with support for weeks and nothing is resolved. They offered me a twelve percent off coupon as if I want to spend more money on their stuff. This has been incredibly aggravating and I expected way better quality from Dell especially at these prices. I'm hoping they figure this out soon but I'm about out of patience.

Look I was about ready to throw this thing out a window but turns out I was the problem. Just clean out all the dust underneath and wipe down those fan fins. SERIOUSLY that's all it took. Now it runs perfectly and I feel silly for not trying that first. LOVE THIS SETUP.

Okay so I was ready to throw this thing out the window because the fans were screaming at full speed doing nothing but now I figured it out. SERIOUSLY JUST CLEAN THE DUST OUT FROM UNDER YOUR LAPTOP AND WIPE DOWN THE FAN BLADES. Mine works like a dream now and I feel dumb for not thinking of that sooner. Love this machine.

This has been really disappointing. After a couple years of normal use the whole computer just started breaking down and applications are dying one by one.

Bottom line: expensive laptop that's poorly made with terrible customer support. I'm stuck with a broken device because all the problems showed up after the 30 day return period. Don't buy this if you need your computer for work. My $4K machine has the worst speakers ever and the trackpad was super slow whenever I was typing. It took Dell over a week to even figure out what the issue was before they could replace it. The replacement trackpad had a sticker that was coming off and it was rubbing against the fan creating annoying noise. I had to open it up myself and fix that. Then the speakers died and needed to be swapped out. After all that and reinstalling Windows, now the screen keeps freezing up or crashing when I log in or change settings. I have to ship the whole thing back right before a trip. This has been a nightmare for getting my work done. They won't give me a loaner and want me to take a refurbished model permanently instead. At least the Alienware monitors I bought didn't have issues.

Can't recommend this overpriced junk to anyone. These things are overhyped garbage that apparently they give away free to TV producers because even free they're still too expensive for what you get. I've had 3 SSDs fail in 2 years thanks to pathetic heat management. The graphics are weak, the system freezes constantly, won't boot properly and has basically every problem a bad computer can have.

Purchased an Alienware M18 and three weeks later the thermal paste failed completely. They dispatched a technician to install a new cooling system. While doing that work, he damaged the graphics card and reassembled the case so poorly that the screws got stripped. The casing warped so much I couldn't even plug in basic peripherals like headphones or a mouse. I had no choice but to send it back to Dell and request a refund. Total waste of time and money.

Got myself an Alienware M18 and had serious problems within the first few weeks. The thermal paste basically died, so they sent a technician out. While replacing the cooling system, he managed to damage the graphics card and put the case back together so badly that all the screws were stripped and the whole thing was warped. I never even got to use it properly because I couldn't connect my headphones or mouse due to the warped casing. Eventually had to return it to Dell for a full refund. Completely frustrating experience.

The laptops themselves are excellent machines. My problem came when I needed help with my Alienware M15 R3 after the warranty expired. The hinge and bezel started failing for the second time since I bought it. When I reached out to Dell and Alienware for support, they were unhelpful and kept transferring me around saying there were no repair shops or parts suppliers where I'm living now. They also kept asking me to re-register my warranty which was originally set up in another country. Getting answers was basically impossible. I had to order the replacement parts myself from overseas which was a hassle dealing with customs. I found a used replacement bezel and back cover that worked. It's shocking that a company like Dell or Alienware won't support their own laptops that are only a few years old. Since I travel internationally, I won't be buying from them again.

Got banned from their service without any explanation. They claimed my login problem was fixed but then just stopped responding to me completely.

Got the M17 R2 for about three grand and it overheats crazy fast like within twenty seconds. The processor is clocked at 2.6 but my motherboard runs at 3.9. Still it's a solid machine and I get over a hundred frames in GTA 5 and similar games so it does deliver.

Alienware is exactly what you'd expect from the name premium performance equipment. Got one and been totally satisfied with it.
