What Shoppers Say About Spartan Race
Spartan Race is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 16 shoppers, with reviews highlighting a stark divide between the racing experience and company operations. Shoppers consistently praise the races themselves as fun and engaging events, but this positive assessment is overwhelmed by severe complaints about customer service, order fulfillment, and unresponsive support channels. Multiple reviewers report spending hundreds of dollars on tickets or season passes without receiving digital tickets or merchandise, with attempts to contact customer service going unanswered for weeks. The company has also drawn criticism for not honoring its own ticket policies, such as allowing transfers or deferrals when circumstances change.
Beyond customer service failures, shoppers report operational issues at actual race events, including late starts, poor-quality food and beverages with visible defects, understaffing of volunteers, and unexpected additional charges for race photos. The cumulative effect of these complaints suggests that while the core race product has merit, the company's inability or unwillingness to support customers before, during, and after events has created significant frustration. No reviewers on RetailCoupons.com recommend the service based on the current evidence.

Sorted by: Most recentThe actual races themselves are a lot of fun. However, their app and system are broken. I purchased 4 tickets for about $600 but never got my digital tickets. For the past 2 weeks I've been trying to reach customer service with no success, and when I finally connected with someone, they said they'd look into it and still haven't followed up a week later. The race is 2 months away and this shouldn't be complicated. I'm considering just requesting a refund at this point and finding another race series since this is how they handle customers. Tickets were $180 each before the discount, so hire some support staff. This shouldn't take weeks to resolve.
I'd give them zero stars if the system allowed it. Their customer support team won't work with you at all. They're happy to take your money and disappear. No pun intended.
I've held a season pass for years and this year has been absolutely terrible. I signed up in late fall and it's now mid-October with still no gear. All spartan tells me is they're shipping stuff as inventory arrives and certain sizes are in high demand. I'm furious about spending this much money and getting zero results or real help on this situation.
Ran the trail race in White Water Wisconsin in 2025 and it was a complete disappointment. The event started 26 minutes behind schedule, the electrolyte drinks tasted terrible and had powder residue in them, only bananas for snacks, way too few volunteers helping out, and then they want $30 for race photos after you've already overpaid for entry. Worst experience possible.
This company's customer service is basically nonexistent and they don't honor their own ticket terms. I was running with a group of friends but one got injured before the event. You'd think we could at least use the ticket for a future race at no cost, but they've refused to reply to any of our messages.
Like everyone else complaining about this outfit, their customer service doesn't exist and they ignore their own ticket policies. I had a group of friends lined up for a race but one person got hurt before the event. We figured at minimum we could use the ticket for another race down the road, but they've straight up ignored all of our messages.
I'm in my sixties with thinning graying hair. Ordered 3 bars and used them for 4 months without seeing any thickness or color improvement. When I called to ask if there was a refund option, they said no because I had already used the product. Not looking for money back, but definitely not recommending this.
They charge spectator fees but clearly don't care about the experience for people watching. There's no signage indicating where racers are located, the maps don't match reality, their online tracking system doesn't work, and volunteers stationed throughout don't even know which mile marker they're at. If entry for spectators were free I'd get it, but you're charging admission - what exactly am I paying for besides bathroom access?
I bought race tickets through Groupon and was told to register the code on the spartan website. When I entered the code, instead of getting the discounted price, the system charged me full price. I contacted Groupon asking for a refund but they turned me down. Be very careful combining Groupon deals with this company.
Warning to potential customers. I was really looking forward to my first spartan race this weekend in Las Vegas but unfortunately suffered a hip flexor tear that will sideline me for around 3 months. The company refused to refund my ticket purchase, and when I asked about transferring it to another event, they wanted an extra $35 fee. After reaching out to them, they basically said there's nothing they can do to help, so I'm now down $160. Just a heads up if you're thinking of signing up with them - don't expect any refunds even if injury prevents you from attending.
