NH Hotel Group Reviews
NH Hotel Group's guest experiences are starkly divided. On the positive side, satisfied guests praise exceptional staff service and kindness, highlighting specific properties like the Copenhagen Strandgade and Milan location for their welcoming atmosphere, cleanliness, quality dining, and convenient access to city centers. These reviewers report memorable experiences with attentive and courteous teams.
On the negative side, roughly half of reviewers report serious issues that significantly detract from their stays. Complaints center on climate control problems (rooms that are either too hot or too cold with non-functional temperature controls), unmet room requests handled dismissively by staff, cleanliness concerns (including pest issues), and poor bathroom conditions. Some guests also cite uncomfortable room configurations, disruptive disturbances late at night, and unwelcoming atmospheres. The gap between the hotel group's website descriptions and actual guest experiences is a recurring frustration.
The Strandgade in Copenhagen is in a league of its own. The staff went above and beyond with their kindness and generosity, which you rarely see these days. They showed genuine care throughout my entire stay. This is absolutely the only place I'll book whenever I visit Copenhagen. Hands down the best choice.
Stayed at the Calderon in Barcelona and it was awful. There were cockroaches in the room. Someone knocked on the door at 2 AM without warning, which scared my daughters. The staff was unprofessional throughout our stay.
I reserved three single beds and received a double bed with a sofa bed instead. When I showed staff my original request and their confirmation, they just shrugged and didn't care. Three men in their 60s and all of us are experiencing back pain from this arrangement. If they had simply responded that they didn't have triple rooms with single beds available, we could have booked somewhere better. Instead, they were fine taking our money and giving us an inadequate room with no air conditioning since apparently only the premium suites have that. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and unfriendly. The carpets looked like they haven't been vacuumed or cleaned properly in ages. I found cigarette butts on the floor from the first morning that were never cleaned up. The whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. This hotel needs to change their approach. They could have offered us a single room at no extra cost to make things right, but they refused and wanted to charge us more. They were happy to pocket our money and then treat us with contempt when we arrived. I have documented everything and will be pursuing this further.
Beautiful and quiet hotel in Milan with easy access to the city center on foot. The team was welcoming, attentive, and courteous at every turn. The dining was outstanding and the rooms were fresh with modern furnishings and spotless conditions. Special shout out to Alfredo for going out of his way to help. Thanks!
The Zurbano Madrid location was way too hot during my stay. Despite what their website claims, there's no actual air conditioning in the rooms, only heating. I tried turning the temperature all the way down, but nothing worked except the heat. It was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep with the windows wide open, which meant listening to traffic noise all night and dealing with car sounds. Very disappointing given what they advertise.
The Rijnhotel Arnhem fell short in almost every way. The dinner was not good and oversalted. My room was freezing cold. There was a note in the room telling me to turn on the heat, but it simply didn't work. The bathroom had a bad smell. There was nothing welcoming about the space at all. The curtains were a nightmare to operate, requiring so much force to close them that I worried I'd rip the fabric. The room price was way too high given the quality of the stay. Breakfast was the only thing that was acceptable.
I had a wonderful stay at the Groningen location and I want to especially thank Dorine for her exceptional service.
My stay at the Groningen location was excellent. I want to give special thanks to Dorine for providing outstanding service throughout my time there.
Went to stay with my group at the Alexanderplatz location in Berlin and had a terrible experience. When we booked, the hotel quoted us one price for single rooms, but when we showed up, they suddenly wanted to charge triple that amount. When we pushed back, they basically said tough luck, go find another place. As a large group, we couldn't just leave, so we were stuck. The staff treated us with total disrespect and rudeness, which is completely unacceptable for a four-star property. I would never go back and would strongly advise everyone to avoid this hotel.
The accessibility accommodations for wheelchair users at this hotel are inadequate. I requested an upgraded room to better suit my needs, but management said they couldn't help. I had booked for six nights and gave proper notice that I wanted to cut my stay short to just four nights. The hotel refused to refund more than one night's cost, which made it nearly impossible to go anywhere else for that one day. The regular checkout time is 3 PM but they only allowed 11 AM. I felt let down by the hotel's response. Management never took the time to speak with me directly and just delegated everything to other staff.
The Wein City location is hands down the worst NH hotel I've ever stayed at. You can't even see the building from the street; you have to walk through an alley to get there. Getting luggage in and out means hauling it up and down stairs the whole way. There's no WiFi in the rooms, which is shocking for a four-star hotel in today's world. The hotel had two separate fire alarms that forced everyone to evacuate. I'm a gold member of their loyalty program and have stayed at four different NH hotels in the past two weeks, but none of them acknowledged or showed any respect for my membership status. This place is a disaster and I'd tell anyone to stay somewhere else.
I had a confirmed reservation at the Mexico City T2 Airport location and checked in online before arriving. When I got there, the staff told me my reservation didn't exist and they had no available rooms. They didn't even try to help me find alternative accommodation. I've sent multiple requests asking for an explanation or apology, and they've completely ignored me. This is a serious breach of trust. I will not be staying at any of their properties in the future.
We stayed at the Brussels location from December 12th to the 15th after booking through an online site. The hotel itself was fine and breakfast was decent, but we ran into several serious problems. The hot water wasn't working anywhere in the hotel, and our toilet was broken for a full day without any way to fix it because there were no maintenance staff available on site. The elevator on our floor wasn't functioning, so we had to trek up and down one flight repeatedly, which is difficult when you have mobility issues. The only working toilet was in the basement while we were on the seventh floor. We complained to the hotel multiple times, but they showed no interest in resolving the issues. We've escalated this with the booking platform, but the hotel hasn't responded to their inquiries either.
I had a very positive experience at the NH Hotel Amistad in Murcia today. The front desk staff are courteous, supportive, and professional in every interaction. Pedro in particular deserves recognition for working hard to make sure our visit went smoothly from start to finish.
This was the worst hotel experience I've had in Amsterdam. They advertise 24/7 service but that's just not true. The staff showed discriminatory behavior toward people of color throughout our stay. On arrival, they put us in a dirty room with gum stuck on the phone. When we complained, they moved us to another room but then accused us of putting the gum there and dirtying the space ourselves, which makes no sense. My husband was treated very poorly when he asked for a bottle of water late at night since I'm pregnant and wanted to avoid tap water. A staff member at the desk made insensitive comments and suggested we wouldn't get sick from tap water because of our background. The whole experience was deeply disrespectful.
