What Shoppers Say About Acorn TV
Acorn TV receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 1.8 out of 5 by 22 reviewers. The most consistent complaints center on technical problems: the app frequently crashes or fails to function, streaming experiences are plagued by buffering and freezing, and audio cuts out unexpectedly. Beyond technical issues, shoppers report serious concerns with customer support (unresponsive or unhelpful), billing problems (duplicate charges, unexpected renewal offers disguised as cancellations), and refund denials even after service failures. One positive aspect mentioned is that some content is described as good when the service actually works.
A small minority of shoppers gave high ratings, suggesting the service has appeal for certain viewers when functioning properly. However, the vast majority of feedback indicates systemic problems that overshadow any content value. Common frustrations include difficulty canceling subscriptions, inadequate technical support, and the company's unwillingness to address service failures with refunds. Shoppers consistently recommend avoiding the service or choosing alternatives like BritBox, citing the combination of unreliable performance and poor customer service as disqualifying factors.

How am I supposed to cancel something I never enrolled in? There's a yearly charge hitting my account that I can't get back because Amazon can't locate the subscription in their system. This is the third time this has occurred. Can anyone step in and help me fix this?
Simple to sign up, but trying to leave is a whole different story. Same issue as what I've seen others mention: the cancellation system doesn't actually work. It sends you to customer service who reply with an automated message saying they'll be in touch, but they never follow up. I ended up disputing the recurring monthly payment on my credit card, which caused a ton of trouble with my bank. All the correspondence came from addresses in the US, which seemed pretty sketchy.
Ran into the same issue trying to cancel my account. The cancellation option in your account settings just doesn't work, and emailing support doesn't help either. I recently discovered that you have to use their chat feature at the bottom of the website to actually get them to process your cancellation. If you push back when chatting with them, they might throw in a complimentary month before finalizing the cancellation.
Con artists and crooks! They somehow got into my phone accounts and charged me without my approval. I shut down those cards, requested replacements, and filed complaints with both companies. It's been a whole year and they keep attempting unauthorized charges EVERY SINGLE DAY. I have to keep my financial cards blocked because someone broke into their security system and an employee is stealing from people worldwide. LOCK UP YOUR CARDS OR THEY WILL DRAIN YOUR ACCOUNTS! Both Amazon and Acorn ignore the problem. Nobody is doing anything about this. Everyone needs to know these people are criminals!
Just like what others have reported, I tried to end my subscription and the link on the website is broken. I sent an email requesting cancellation but even though they came back saying the case was taken care of, a few days later I was charged again for the monthly fee. Every time I email support I get the same auto-generated response with no real help. Steer clear of this scam.
Just awful. I ended my account but they still withdrew funds from me. Just skip this one!
Watch out here. I got charged but the show I was looking for, which they advertised as part of their lineup, turned out to be unavailable. I cancelled right away once I realized this, but my money was already gone. According to them, the show should be viewable until mid-April, but it's not accessible. Be careful before signing up.
It's about quality, not quantity! They produce fantastic original content. We've had our subscription for years now and continue to really appreciate it. We started Signora Volpe recently and we're loving every minute of that first episode.
I felt bad reading through all the complaints about this service. I haven't had to deal with customer support or try to cancel since I haven't left my free trial, so I can't speak to those situations. But I decided to keep my free trial going because I genuinely love what the service offers. It's got this unique selection of shows that's totally different from Netflix or Amazon. You can scroll forever through those big services and end up watching nothing because there's just too much to choose from. Acorn has way less content, which actually makes it simpler to find something. There's also something peaceful about it, no ads, no pop-ups, credits roll without automatically throwing you into the next episode. There's even a blank screen after the credits finish, giving you a moment to sit with what you just watched and think about whether you want to continue. Most of the shows on here have these beautiful cinematography scenes similar to shows like Wallander or Vera. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I think what Acorn is doing really stands out. I'm ditching the big streaming companies and sticking with Acorn.
