Adelante Shoe Co. Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Adelante Shoe Co.
Adelante Shoe Co. receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with shoppers reporting severe operational and customer service failures. The most common complaints center on extremely long shipping delays (orders taking 6-8 months to arrive), unresponsive customer service (ignored emails, disconnected phone lines, automated responses only), and a return process that appears to function in name only. Shoppers report receiving wrong sizes, used or damaged shoes, and being unable to obtain return shipping addresses or process exchanges despite the company's stated return policy. A small percentage of reviewers mention that shoes purchased years ago were good quality, but current experiences suggest a significant decline in both product consistency and company operations.
A handful of shoppers note that the physical product itself can be solid when it does arrive undamaged, and a few express willingness to shop in person rather than online. However, the majority of recent reviews describe a company that has made returns effectively impossible (including changing policies retroactively after purchase), fails to fulfill basic customer service obligations, and leaves customers waiting months without resolution or communication.

Sorted by: Most recentThe boots came in the wrong calf measurement. I ordered standard size but they sent me something way too big. I'm on my third request to get this fixed. Their customer service is awful. You get a 30 day return window but you're completely dependent on them to respond with return instructions and shipping labels, and my deadline is closing fast. They charge your card instantly but when you need help there's nobody there.
Placed an order back in September that shows partially delivered on my payment app, but there's no tracking info or anything else to go on. Nobody answers emails or phone calls about what's going on with this order. It's impossible to reach anyone for help.
One star because while they did improve communication after I left a bad review, they also deleted it from their site. Not only is that disrespectful, it shows what kind of company they are. If they can't handle honest feedback they're not worth doing business with. The fact that they remove reviews makes me think there are way more complaints than we ever see, which is a huge red flag.
My husband ordered custom shoes and got a complimentary wallet as a bonus. He really likes both items. Our dog unfortunately destroyed the wallet, but we've ordered replacements plus a belt. We appreciate that they're supporting workers in Guatemala and we can actually see who produced our stuff. Sure, the pricing is steep, but that's okay with us given what we're supporting.
My husband got custom shoes made and even got a free wallet included. He's really happy with both items. The wallet didn't last long because our dog ate it, but we've since ordered another one plus a belt. We love knowing that we're helping support workers in Guatemala and can see who made our products. The prices are higher than average but we're fine with that given the mission.
My husband found two custom boot companies and we chose Adelante for my birthday gift, ordering the Reinas. Everything seemed fine while following their instructions, but after four weeks the boots arrived fitting too wide in the foot and a bit large around the calf. I contacted customer service and they sent replacements. Unfortunately those were still too wide at the ankle with my heel sliding out constantly. Despite a lot of back and forth, they determined there wasn't a solution. The company won't refund the $395 purchase, only offering store credit instead. What they call custom made basically means taking three measurements, and if you have athletic calves with narrow ankles, you're out of luck. They acted like I should've known their policy ahead of time, but who expects custom shoes not to fit properly? I respect their work with Guatemalan artisans, but understand you might end up donating money if nothing works. Their selection is limited, so I'm holding out hope something else catches my eye someday. I'm still waiting for that birthday present.
I've been trying to reach out about my shoe order but my two emails haven't gotten any responses. I'm hoping the company sees this and will help me arrange a return. After a month, I'd like to get this fixed by the end of the week but so far the experience has been pretty disappointing.
