What Shoppers Say About Aer Lingus
Aer Lingus receives sharply polarized reviews, with 19 total ratings averaging 3.7 out of 5. The airline's most significant challenges center on baggage handling issues, including lost or misrouted strollers with no clear accountability, as well as flight cancellations and subsequent rebooking experiences. Passengers report chronic seat discomfort on longer flights (narrow pitch and minimal legroom), inadequate in-flight meal portions, weak entertainment systems, and frequent delays on certain routes. Customer service responsiveness appears inconsistent, with customers frustrated by automated system responses and closed service desks during critical moments.
On the positive side, a substantial portion of reviewers rate their experiences highly at five stars, suggesting that some passengers have satisfactory or better journeys with the airline. However, detailed positive feedback is limited in available reviews. The airline's rewards credit card program and booking system also draw criticism, with customers encountering frustrating technical barriers when attempting to redeem miles or manage bookings.

Sorted by: Most recentHad a terrible time with the airline's rewards credit card program. Trying to book a redemption flight turned into a nightmare since I kept getting automated responses saying it couldn't be done. Would recommend looking elsewhere for a card.
Our stroller got lost with this airline and no one seemed to care. It had the wrong luggage tag on it and was sitting on the carousel even though we had a connection to New York from Manchester. Nobody took responsibility for it. They suggested getting a temporary stroller from another counter that wasn't even open. To make matters worse, they closed the gate, forcing us to go all the way around upstairs and back down while carrying two suitcases, three backpacks, and a five month old baby without a stroller. Everyone just kept repeating it wasn't their job. The immigration officer was particularly unwelcoming and said I was getting in her way because I was holding the baby while asking for assistance. We had to spend our whole week in New York without a stroller. This was absolutely unacceptable.
We had our baby stroller mishandled on this flight. The luggage label was wrong to begin with, and even though we had a tight connection to New York from Manchester, it just kept going around on the belt with nobody taking responsibility. When we asked for a temporary stroller, the desk was closed. Then the gate shut and we had to take a massive detour upstairs and back down carrying two large cases, three backpacks, and a five month old baby with no stroller. Everyone kept saying it wasn't their department or responsibility. Airport staff were especially unhelpful and rude, saying I was being a distraction while I was just trying to carry my baby and bags looking for help. We spent an entire week in New York without a pram. Really unacceptable.
After my booking got cancelled in late February, I was rerouted on their flight through Dublin to get to my destination. The initial leg was decent and uneventful, but the long-haul portion left me frustrated. Seats felt cramped with no legroom whatsoever, the entertainment options were pretty weak, and the meal was barely enough to fill anyone up. Even worse, I had to pay extra just to get a beer during a transatlantic flight. They're not any better than budget airlines in my opinion. I won't be flying them again.
My original flight got cancelled mid-February, so they put me on their aircraft heading to SFO through Dublin instead. The short leg was perfectly fine, but the longer transatlantic portion was disappointing. The seat pitch was terrible with barely any room to stretch, the in-flight entertainment was pretty limited, and the meal was tiny. What really got me was having to buy a beer on an international flight. This airline isn't standing out compared to budget carriers. I won't be going back.
This route between the two cities is constantly running late. My evening flight was pushed back almost three hours. Terrible service and I won't be booking with them anymore.
I was traveling through a few cities with connections at Dublin and JFK. When I missed my connection at Dublin, I headed to the ticket counter. The representative there really went above and beyond to help me out. She got me on the next available flight without charging any rebooking fees and was super understanding throughout the whole thing. The transatlantic portion was comfortable too.
Yesterday's service from Barcelona to Dublin was excellent. The aircraft was running late leaving Dublin due to poor weather conditions. They had a short turnaround and couldn't restock, but they were totally honest about it. The crew stayed cheerful and patient all day and really helped passengers who were connecting onward. They even arranged wheelchair help for some travelers in Dublin. Even though the flight was short, the crew made it feel special. The people working for them are what makes the airline great.
