What Shoppers Say About APC by Schneider Electric
APC by Schneider Electric receives highly polarized feedback, with most shoppers expressing serious dissatisfaction. The dominant complaint centers on customer service: reviewers report unresponsive support channels, unhelpful responses to technical issues, and excessively long wait times for replacements or refunds. Additional concerns include product quality issues such as units emitting a burning plastic smell and devices that malfunction even after battery replacement. A smaller segment of long-term customers praise the reliability and durability of APC equipment, with some reporting satisfaction across multiple units over decades of use, though even these positive experiences appear overshadowed by recent service failures.
While APC's core UPS and power backup products have earned loyalty from some enterprise and home users, the current shopping experience is marked by poor responsiveness and inadequate problem resolution. Prospective buyers should weigh the company's historical reputation against the substantial number of recent complaints regarding both product performance and support quality before making a purchase decision.

Sorted by: Most recentAbsolutely the worst experience. The customer service is horrible, and getting a replacement battery took forever. When it finally showed up, the battery itself was defective. Now I'm two weeks deep trying to figure out how to return the bad battery. They keep saying they'll email me but nothing ever comes through. I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere for backup power solutions.
I'm recommending everyone avoid APC products from now on. They're overpriced and won't help you fix any of the basic components. When a removable display part got damaged, they flat out refused to replace it and told me I'd need to buy an entirely new UPS. Steer clear of this company.
I made a purchase on the UK site but never got an order confirmation or any updates on the status. My card wasn't even charged. After a week went by and I still needed the item, I bought one from another retailer that came the very next day. Then out of nowhere, ten days after my original order, my credit card finally got charged and the package showed up a few days after that. There was absolutely no way for me to cancel that first order, and returning it would require shipping costs that eat up a third of what I paid. The products themselves might be solid, but their ordering and service processes are problematic. If I ever need their gear again, I'm going to go through other outlets where things seem to move smoother and the prices look better anyway.
Their support is absolutely terrible! I bought an APC battery that didn't end up working for my needs, so I had to send it back at my own expense. I purchased it from the Danish site but mailed the package to Holland instead, which cost me a hundred euros just for shipping. They got it on June seventeenth but I didn't see my refund until July fifth, nearly three weeks later! When I call them, they always tell me something different, just to placate me. I'm exhausted by this. Most companies would cover return shipping and process refunds much faster, like others I've worked with, who get your money back within three or four business days. I've tested other brands and had way better experiences. A real company would have handled the return costs and been prompt about sending money back.
I've been loyal to APC for two decades but I'm switching now. My BX unit started flickering between online and battery status indicators exactly five years after I bought it. Turns out all BX models don't even have replaceable batteries, so this blinking was basically their way of saying time to buy something new even though the unit actually works fine once I reset it. The trade in program is honestly a ripoff. I have an older BR model, but if you try to trade it in, you're forced to match the capacity and the options are terrible. Even if you try combining two units to trade in, the wattage requirement jumps up and you have to shell out way more to hit their target, even if you don't actually require that power. Consider this a warning if you're thinking about buying an APC: choose very carefully on capacity because you'll be cornered down the line if you ever want to trade in. Honestly it would probably be less expensive buying elsewhere anyway. I could have traded two units totaling twenty four hundred watts but would have needed to spend around sixteen hundred pounds to meet their requirements.
Got my Back-UPS 700 delivered yesterday. The box was sealed properly and nothing looked wrong, except there was no power cable included so I couldn't even use it. I called their support line and talked to someone who kept saying sorry and claimed he'd send me an email asking about my receipt. He even confirmed my email address was right, but twelve hours later I still haven't heard anything. This unit came useless out of the box and their follow-up support has been completely unhelpful.
This is a solid piece of equipment from an established brand. It lets me plug more devices into my two outlet wall jack and provides nice surge protection to my phone line.
Really happy with this unit. It gives me extra outlets to work with on my wall jack that only had two before, plus there's a decent amount of surge protection included for my phone line.
Bought a new Back-UPS recently and let it run for about a week before the circuit breaker suddenly tripped. It kicked on with backup power, but then the battery warning started blaring almost immediately and the whole thing shut down within minutes. Clearly the battery came defective straight from the box.
I've ordered multiple APC units throughout the years and had one come with bad batteries. The store where I bought it wasn't any help at all, but APC's support staff really came through. They got me a replacement shipped out quickly and promised to touch base afterward to make sure everything was working great.
