What Shoppers Say About bareMinerals
bareMinerals receives polarized feedback, with shoppers divided between strong loyalty and significant dissatisfaction. The 21 reviews averaging 2.2 out of 5 reveal that some customers praise specific products like the Prime Time foundation primer for transforming their makeup routine. However, the majority of reviewers express frustration with recent product reformulations that they feel have not been improvements, particularly regarding shade matching and foundation formulas that now appear cakey or too thick for mature skin. Several shoppers report quality control issues, including sticky bronzer cases and conflicting ingredient lists between the official website and other retailers, raising concerns about product consistency and transparency.
Common complaints center on the brand's apparent shift in marketing focus toward younger consumers and reformulated products that no longer meet long-time customers' needs. Multiple reviewers note difficulty connecting with new shade versions after using the original formulations for years. Customer service experiences are mixed, with some feeling dismissed when reporting problems. The drastic rating split (62 percent one-star, 24 percent five-star) suggests that while a dedicated subset of customers remain enthusiastic about certain products, a substantial portion of recent shoppers have encountered disappointment with reformulations, product performance, or reliability.

Sorted by: Most recentOver the last five or six years they've reformulated several of my go to products and honestly the changes weren't improvements. They also updated all the shades and I really haven't connected with the new versions like I did with the old ones. It feels like they're targeting women in their 50s and younger, but the market has so many new options for older women now. I'm going to explore those other brands as I use up my remaining Bare Mineral stock
Paid good money for a Ready Bronzer years ago that I put away without using and left in my closet. When I finally decided to use it, the entire case turned sticky and gross. Cleaning it didn't help at all and I can't even touch it without getting the residue all over my hands. I contacted the company about the issue and they gave me some explanation about cosmetic packaging breaking down over time and becoming tacky. After that they basically ghosted me
I've been buying Light 20 neutral in the 16+ hours Barepro foundation for years. They recently switched it to 24+ hours and I ordered through Boots like always. When it showed up, the shade looked noticeably different from what I was expecting. I reached out to Bare Minerals and they asked me to compare my old shade with the new one and send photos. After I sent those, they basically said they couldn't help because I bought it from Boots rather than them directly. Now Boots is refusing to take it back since the package has been opened
The ingredient list for the BUTTER DRENCH CREAM on their official website doesn't match what's listed on the Ulta website at all. My jar has the same ingredients as the Ulta version, so why are these lists completely different? There's no reformulation announcement anywhere. This feels super sketchy and makes me question whether I can trust their ingredient information
I grabbed what was labeled as a tinted moisturizer hoping it would work better than it did. Years ago I loved their powder foundation in the jars, but now that I'm nearly 50, my skin needs something lighter. This product turned out to be basically a full coverage liquid foundation that went on way too thick and looked cakey on my face. The formula and consistency feel nothing like a moisturizer. Sure, if you want a heavier foundation with hydration you might enjoy it, but I think calling it a tinted moisturizer is really misleading about what you're actually getting
I'm obsessed with BareMinerals products! The Prime Time original foundation primer has completely changed my makeup game and is hands down the best primer I've ever tried. Works amazingly whether I'm wearing full makeup or just the primer alone
Outstanding customer service experience! My package got lost in the mail and never showed up. Within a couple hours of contacting them via email, they immediately sent out a replacement at no charge. Plus their tinted moisturizer is fantastic, great quality product
I really don't usually leave negative reviews but since the new ownership took over, I've been really unhappy with how things are being run. My Diamond status rewards got frozen for five months and when I finally checked, they'd wiped out around 1000 points from my account. Even worse, any purchases I made since the start of this year don't show up in my rewards account or order history. This is disappointing treatment for someone who's been loyal for so long. Customer service won't even explain what happened
Refund request went nowhere. I sent back my order right away using their prepaid shipping label, but the company dragged their feet for months before dealing with it even though I kept following up. Now they're refusing to process a refund because the payment method I used is no longer active. It doesn't make sense that a company this size can't figure out how to send refunds to customers
Still waiting on the product I ordered. Received the wrong item in December when I ordered in November. I attempted calling about five times and kept being told the system was down for upgrades. Finally in January someone picked up and promised to send the right shade. It's now February and I still don't have anything. Currently on hold trying to track this down. Pretty ridiculous at this point
