What Shoppers Say About Bulova
Bulova receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with the vast majority of reviewers reporting serious quality and durability issues. Common complaints include watch components failing within months to a year of purchase (clasps breaking, crowns popping off, linkage failures, movements failing), slow and expensive repair processes through their Toronto service center, and warranty claims being denied or charged at premium rates. Shoppers also report misleading product descriptions, such as leather strap colors not matching website images. A small minority of reviewers (8 percent) express satisfaction, though their feedback is not detailed in available reviews.
Shoppers consistently report frustration with Bulova's warranty coverage, describing it as inadequate or poorly honored, and note that the brand (owned by Citizen) appears unwilling to cover manufacturing defects or design flaws. Repair estimates are described as expensive, parts availability is slow, and the company is frequently cited as unwilling to stand behind its products. Based on the volume and consistency of these complaints, shoppers overwhelmingly do not recommend purchasing from Bulova.

Sorted by: Most recentMy husband surprised me with a beautiful watch from them and I couldn't be happier. It's gorgeous and I love wearing it.
Giving this one star because the customer service is awful. They claim to offer a three year warranty but it's basically worthless. I sent my watch to an authorized repair center in Los Angeles and six months later it started having issues again. They fixed it, but ten months after that the battery needed replacing and it turned out to have major problems. I sent it to their New York location and got a bill instead of warranty service. When I tried calling to dispute it, I spent forever on hold and my voicemail never got a return call. Their warranty is a joke and their support is nonexistent. I have a whole collection but I'm switching brands.
I have mixed feelings about Bulova. Their watch technology is cool and they've been around for over 100 years, which is impressive. The downside is they use 316 stainless steel, which is pretty standard and definitely not considered a premium material for a luxury brand.
I finally got details from their customer service explaining their process for battery replacement and repairs on watches still under warranty. Basically, they assess the watch externally first, then if it's not working they send you an estimate for a battery replacement. After you pay, they send it to a technician. If the battery isn't the issue, they evaluate whether service is needed and supposedly refund your battery replacement fee. The battery they use is a Maxell CR2016, which they charge about thirty-four dollars for, which seems high for something that loses one percent of charge per year anyway.
