Starting with parking: the lots require extensive walking, they're poorly lit at night, the signage isn't helpful, and the row numbers are printed so small in black on the posts that they're nearly impossible to read. We actually needed security to help locate our vehicle after being separated from it for nearly 45 minutes. Once inside the park, wayfinding continues to be a problem. We kept asking staff for directions to attractions even when we were standing right near them. Several employees even acknowledged how frustrated they were about the inadequate signage but said nothing gets done about it. The Lightning Rod coaster was a terrible surprise since it was largely blocked from view so we had no warning about how intense it would be. That ride isn't enjoyable. Riding the vintage train was unpleasant too because dark grime kept falling on us continuously, and since it just loops through trees rather than showing scenic views, it's not worth the hassle. Plus, when you're sitting at the outdoor shows, the sooty exhaust from the train blows right into the audience. That's not fun to deal with. On the bright side, there are genuinely talented performers scattered throughout the park, which added nice variety. The shows themselves were impressive too.
Dollywood turned out to be a total letdown and a waste of both time and money.
Had a wonderful experience at Dollywood. There's so much to enjoy here between the attractions, entertainment, and shops. One thing to keep in mind though: it gets really hot and you'll be doing a ton of walking in that heat. Fair warning if you're not a big ride person, stick with a single day ticket rather than committing to two days, or save that second day for cooling off at the water park.
My experience at the DreamMore resort and spa was incredibly disappointing. I was promised an employment opportunity that fell through, and management handled it terribly by confronting me at valet in front of everyone and making me feel humiliated. They called me a loiterer to push me out. I had been coming there for dinner regularly for months and felt welcomed, but suddenly three months in they changed their tune completely. As someone with a significant disability, I thought Dollywood of all places would offer genuine opportunities, but this experience proved otherwise. When I brought my concerns to Dollywood directly, nothing came of it. I expected better from an organization I believed stood for something meaningful. It's sad to see such different treatment depending on who you are.
This place is absolutely magical! The food was fantastic, everyone on staff was welcoming, the rides were a blast, there's tons of variety in the shops, and the performances were truly amazing!
I won't be coming back unless they relocate the parking and shuttle station much closer to the entrance. The current setup requires an exhausting trek from the lot through what used to be accessible parking just to reach the gates. It's genuinely difficult for someone in my situation, and I've heard the same complaint from plenty of other guests I talked to. It's frustrating that I have to pay for a mobility device inside the park when I already need one just to get there. They used to allow drop-offs at the front entrance, but that's gone now too. The park seems more focused on their corporate image than actually serving their customers, especially those who are disabled. It feels like they don't care at all about making things accessible when they force you to trek across the entire property just to enter.
