What Shoppers Say About Fire Mountain Gems and Beads
Fire Mountain Gems and Beads has a highly polarized customer base. Shoppers who rate the store five stars praise its extensive product selection, fair pricing (especially during sales), and positive customer service interactions. However, the majority of recent reviews are critical, with customers reporting serious operational issues: unresponsive customer service and ignored emails, orders shipped to wrong addresses, extreme shipping delays lasting months with no follow-up communication, and consistent quality control problems including damaged items, missing pieces, mislabeled quantities, and products that don't meet advertised specifications (undrilled beads, miscalibrated bezels, misshapen items). Several long-time customers note a significant decline in service quality over the past couple of years.
A recurring complaint involves the company's refusal to make order changes or swap defective items despite quality failures on their end. The wholesale pricing is described as unreasonably high relative to actual wholesale rates. While product quality was once acceptable to loyal customers, recent experiences suggest a breakdown in quality assurance and inventory management that undermines confidence in the brand.

Sorted by: Most recentThe products themselves are decent quality, but I've had a rough time the last couple years after shopping with them successfully for nearly a decade. I'm giving them one star mainly because they refuse to let you make changes to orders even hours after placing them, and they won't swap out items that don't meet their own quality standards. When you're selling quality products, you should back that up with quality service and be willing to work with your customers.
My order got sent to an old address from over a decade ago, and to make matters worse it had a completely different last name on it. I tried reaching out to them multiple times and never got a single response. I won't be coming back to shop with them again.
I placed my order in mid February and got a shipping notification a couple days later. When I reached out in March, they told me the carrier was behind and to expect delivery in about a week. It's now been nearly two months and my order still hasn't shown up. My follow up email from week seven went unanswered. They've had my payment for ages and I still don't have what I paid for. They're not dependable and I'd caution anyone thinking about ordering from them.
Customer service here has always been inconsistent, but it's gotten much worse recently. Prices are really high and the wholesale deals they offer are laughable at best. Items arrive missing or damaged constantly, which tells me they don't have proper quality checks in place. When you finally get through to someone on the phone after a long wait, they're surprisingly hostile and dismissive. This was my last order. As a professional in the jewelry and bead business, I'm taking my customers elsewhere. I've noticed way more negative feedback popping up online and on social media lately, so it's surprising they're still operating. The company used to be much better than this. I'd stay away if I were you.
I absolutely adore shopping at Fire Mountain Gems. Their prices are fair and even better when things go on sale. You get to pick from a huge range of items. The customer service team is fantastic. I really haven't had any bad experiences. My only real complaint is that I don't always have money available to shop whenever I want, because honestly my husband would have to take away my credit card!
The team at this company seems to think 'wholesale' means charging crazy high prices. Plus the quality problems just keep getting worse. About a quarter of what I receive has issues like wood pieces that aren't actually round, bezels that claim to be calibrated but aren't, packs labeled as 20 with only 17 inside, beads that are undrilled or off center, and items I paid for that never even ship. Sure you can send defective stuff back at your own cost and hope the replacements are better while paying shipping again. Or you can call their support line where they'll treat you like you're trying to scam them. I used to be a big fan, even had their premium membership. That's all changed. If I can't locate what I need somewhere else, I'll just redesign the whole piece instead. I'd honestly take a job in their quality or ordering department right now, and I'm pretty good at napping during the day.
I ordered watermelon tourmaline beads from them and was really let down by the quality. About a third of what I got couldn't even be used for stringing. I'm not even sure if the beads I received were what I actually ordered.
I bought the Boss' Bead Bag and it was such a letdown. They threw in some huge stones that weren't useful, barely any actual beads worth having, a bunch of cheap plastic and wooden pieces, a few glass beads that had scratches and dents, and honestly just a lot of garbage. There's no way to give feedback on their website or process a return, which makes it even worse.
Really happy with this place. It's one of my go to spots for silver settings because I trust the quality.
