What Shoppers Say About GameFly
GameFly is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 22 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. The most consistent complaints center on slow shipping times, with customers reporting waits of six to seven days for game delivery and over a week for returns. Shoppers also report issues with customer service quality, unclear billing practices (including charges that weren't properly explained), and limitations on game availability. Several reviewers mention the paid fast return option as an unreliable upsell that creates frustration when the standard service is already slow.
A small minority of reviewers gave positive ratings, though their specific feedback is not detailed in recent submissions. Among the critical reviews, shoppers express frustration that GameFly's service has declined over time, particularly regarding shipping speed, game selection for multi-game plans, and how the company handles defective discs or refunds. Customers indicate they feel the service no longer justifies its cost relative to alternatives, and some report being unable to get basic account issues resolved through customer service channels.

Sorted by: Most recentThis is a total scam and you shouldn't sign up for their trial. My first game I returned never showed up at their warehouse, but they didn't tell me. Instead they just sent out my second game anyway even though I was supposed to only have one out at a time. Then AFTER I canceled the trial, they suddenly claimed they never got that first game back. So now they're charging me full retail price for a game they say didn't arrive. It's completely shady.
Not much good to say here. They consistently don't send the next game on your queue. Sometimes they'll send you something that's ten spots down on your list instead. The frustrating part is the games I actually want are usually showing as well-stocked, so there's no reason I shouldn't be getting them. Why am I stuck waiting? Beyond that stuff, they're okay I guess, but shipping has gotten way worse over time and was never good to begin with, usually taking two weeks. They keep blaming the post office for delays, but that shouldn't be happening. They did add some extras like paid faster returns for loyal customers, but it barely helps since the game just arrives when it should have anyway. It's unacceptable, which is why I'm probably canceling soon. They're honestly the only company doing this rental thing anymore, so it's a tough call. At this point, if they can't do the job right, I have to move on. Really disappointing.
I'd give them less than one star if I could. I tried to get my old account active again and when I entered my card details it said the address didn't match. I called my bank to check and they confirmed my address is correct and that my bank isn't declining anything on their end. They told me the problem is clearly GameFly's system. When I let GameFly know it was their issue, they told me to call my bank. I even sent them screenshots of my bank conversation and a proof of address document, but they never looked at any of it and kept insisting my bank was the problem. Don't waste your money on this.
These rental prices are way too high. I ordered a game and had to wait over two weeks for it to ship, and it was supposedly in stock. The biggest issue is you can only get one game at a time, which is a nightmare with two kids who both play Switch. This company isn't worth your time or money. The shipping is just ridiculous.
Shipping is way too slow and the customer service people don't care. Plus they claim free shipping but it's only free if you're renting, not if you're buying anything else. Want to buy something? That'll be a twenty dollar shipping fee. On top of that they treat orders like they don't matter. It takes 24 to 48 hours just to get something processed before it even hits the mail facility. They advertise priority shipping but the only thing they prioritize is getting you to sign up for their slow mail rental service. I wouldn't recommend buying or renting anything here.
This company will drain your wallet. Their customer service is awful, the website design is terrible, and if something goes wrong with a game they'll just charge you without asking and make you jump through a million hoops to get it fixed. You can see why their ratings are so bad.
The 4K Blu-ray selection is great, but everything else about GameFly right now is disappointing. It's taking a full week to get movies back and forth in my area, which shouldn't happen in the Midwest at these prices. I could honestly save money and time just going to Redbox or hitting up a local rental place. They have this feature where the post office scans your return and supposedly speeds things up, but it doesn't really help. I'm still waiting seven to ten days for the whole cycle to complete. Their customer support is terrible too. When eight days passed without getting my rental, I called asking them to send another one while I waited. They told me to be patient and said I couldn't have more than one movie at a time. I asked about upgrading my plan so I could have two movies out, but they weren't helpful.
Really let down. I purchased 3 Kingdoms for the PS4 and they shipped it with damaged sides. The thing won't even load properly. Now I'm stuck fighting them for a refund AND trying to find another copy elsewhere. Not happening again with this company. Definitely wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
I signed up for the two game plan and tried to play with my spouse on our Nintendo Switch systems. The problem was we couldn't get the same game available at the same time, even though it's an older title with tons of copies in stock. I literally signed up and canceled the same day because of this. If you guys have that many copies available, why can't you make it work for two people? I get it if something was in low supply, but this made no sense at all.
Really impressed with this service. They've got legitimate interesting games at amazing prices with zero friction. The whole thing from signup to checkout to browsing is super smooth. The code came through right away and activating it was simple, no long waits or weird verification processes. I'd definitely recommend them as a solid, reliable option for digital game purchases. They clearly care about keeping things straightforward. I'll be back for sure when the next sale rolls around, and honestly I'd probably even pay full price based on how they run things.
