What Shoppers Say About Level Lock
Level Lock products receive consistently negative feedback from shoppers, with 2.4 out of 5 by 20 reviewers. The most common complaints center on reliability and functionality: units jam frequently, become unresponsive, experience rapid battery drain, and fail to perform their core functions like remote access and proximity-based unlocking. Multiple reviewers report unexpected lock behavior, late or incorrect alerts, and features like Tap to Go and Home Key that rarely work as intended. Customer support, while described as friendly, appears unable to resolve fundamental hardware and software issues. Several shoppers express regret over their purchases and would not recommend the product to others.
While a minority of reviewers give higher ratings, the overwhelming majority report that Level Lock fails to deliver the convenience and peace of mind expected from a smart lock. Common frustrations include three-minute time windows for touch functionality, inability to integrate digital keys with iPhone Wallet, troubleshooting that consumes dozens of hours, and in one case, a lock that opened by itself. The product's aesthetic appeal is occasionally mentioned as a positive, but poor reliability consistently outweighs any design benefits in shoppers' overall assessment.

Sorted by: Most recentMy professional locksmith installed this lock, but it constantly jams. The support team made me run endless tests, requiring me to take apart the mechanism twice, and every single test showed the jamming issue. Instead of sending a replacement, they kept asking for more tests that didn't make sense. Every test meant disassembling the whole thing again. They could've just provided all the tests at once. Eventually I gave up fighting with them. Feels like they're avoiding any real responsibility here. Going with a Nest lock instead, and my other door with Nest hasn't caused any trouble.
Level is just mediocre. The Bluetooth connection feels unreliable and takes forever sometimes, so HomeKit takes ages to show the current lock status before I can use the app to lock or unlock. With HomeKit automations, you have to approve everything, so it's not truly hands-free - honestly a regular key is faster at this point. Voice commands to Siri are nice in theory, but your phone needs to be unlocked first, so that's not really hands-free either. I get that some limitations come from Apple's HomeKit security approach, but the Level app is missing features so you're stuck using HomeKit instead. My other smart lock beats this one because it has WiFi, a physical keypad, and a better app. For the cost, you're just not getting good value.
Cool concept but... It'd be way better with WiFi capability. Having to wait for the Bluetooth connection to establish each time gets annoying pretty quickly. Other than that, I'm happy with it.
Good option so far. The cylinder sizes weren't compatible with my lock, but their support team got me the correct one without any problems. Setup was straightforward. Would love to see more options in the app settings. Auto-unlock when you get close to the door would be perfect, or just something that speeds up the unlocking process through the app.
Great Great lock. I installed three of these when we renovated our new house. Haven't needed to pull out an actual key once. One drawback is the lock won't unlock automatically as you approach with your phone or smartwatch. Other than that it's basically the perfect lock.
Does what it's supposed to do but would benefit from Alexa support! Or honestly even just IFTTT compatibility would help. Plus the app sometimes doesn't register when the lock is actually being opened or closed.
Really like this lock! Would just prefer better integration with my HomePod. Whenever I use Siri, it makes me verify using my iPhone first.
This is a truly great product! I really enjoy the features it offers. The fact that it barely shows on the door is awesome. Sometimes it's a bit sluggish though. Should always be quicker to unlock with your phone than digging for your keys. It would also be cool to set up automatic functions based on which person's phone is nearest. My wife doesn't want the door auto-locking like I do. Really love this product overall and once they push out some updates it'll definitely be five stars for sure.
Fantastic lock. Exactly what I was looking for. Works with stuff I already had. It sits invisibly on the deadbolt and operates without any issues. Only wish it could sync through WiFi rather than relying on HomeKit and Bluetooth. The aesthetic is way better than August or similar brands since there's no big clunky piece sticking out on the outside of the deadbolt.
