I picked up 12 chicks plus an extra one for a 20-minute drive home. Within an hour, six of them developed pasty butt issues. When I cleaned them up during cold January weather, they got chilled and weakened further. Half of my order died the very next day. I wouldn't recommend ordering from them.

We've placed two orders with this hatchery and had issues both times. The first batch had 2 roosters mixed in with 16 supposedly female chicks. When we ordered 36 sexed hens the second time, 4 turned out to be males. When I contacted them about it, they told us they only guarantee 90% accuracy on sexing. That's pretty convenient when both orders hit exactly that percentage. They're charging hens prices for roosters and refusing to do anything about it. The shipping also took three days, which seems excessive for day-old chicks. Look elsewhere for better results. We've had much better luck with other hatcheries.

My family has raised chickens for years, so when we relocated and started fresh in a new state, we decided to give McMurray a shot. Things didn't go well. Most of the birds we received stopped laying completely, which we'd never dealt with before. The only chicken producing eggs now is one we hatched ourselves from a local farm's fertilized eggs. Honestly, I'm disappointed with this experience and won't be ordering from them again.

The shipping took 72 hours, which the hatchery blamed on transport stress. While they did refund those birds, watching the chicks die was hard on the kids. To make matters worse, after three months we discovered almost half the flock were actually roosters, not hens. They only offered partial refunds for the males despite us spending months feeding and caring for them. I asked for a full refund and was denied. Now we're stuck with 10 hens and 7 roosters we didn't want. I should have bought locally.

I've ordered from them before and had mixed results. In a previous order, there were issues with the extra chick being too aggressive. This time the packing was really messed up. I ordered 16 mixed layer chicks and received 25 total, with 10 being broiler chicks I didn't ask for. Many didn't survive the journey, and I'm left with only 9 birds. I still don't even know the actual mix. Their customer service wasn't helpful, and they blamed everything on the post office rather than taking responsibility for how the order was packed. I'll try other suppliers next time.

Their customer service team has been helpful and responsive, and orders arrive as expected.

My wife and I ordered 50 chicks and our experience was devastating. Seventeen died within the first two days of arrival, and another 25 died after that, leaving us with only an 16% survival rate. We reached out to the company and they basically said it wasn't their concern, despite claiming a limited 48-hour guarantee on orders. They advertise that their chicks are vaccinated and properly cared for, but losing that many birds is way too high if that were actually true. I'd suggest other customers look for different suppliers.
