Music & Arts Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Music & Arts
Music & Arts receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 25 reviews averaging 1.2 out of 5. The most serious complaints involve unauthorized charges and billing issues, with customers reporting multiple duplicate charges, ongoing billing after attempting to cancel rentals, and unresolved refund requests. Customers describe the rent-to-own instrument program as problematic, stating the company ignores cancellation requests, continues billing indefinitely despite contract terms, and provides unresponsive customer service when disputes arise. Additional complaints include undelivered or damaged orders, unopened boxes with missing parts, non-responsive customer support, and deceptive marketing practices such as school-impersonating promotional flyers.
While a small minority of reviews are positive, the dominant pattern across negative feedback centers on customer service failures and billing disputes rather than product quality. Shoppers report difficulty reaching support staff, having calls and emails ignored, and being unable to resolve issues through standard channels. Several customers indicate they had to take action outside normal processes, such as freezing credit cards, to stop unwanted charges. The phrase "scam" appears repeatedly in reviews, reflecting customer perception that the company's practices are deliberately deceptive rather than merely inefficient.

Sorted by: Most recentWorst experience I've had with customer service. I used a debit card for a one-time purchase and they promised it wouldn't be charged again. But the next month they billed it anyway, which caused my account to go negative since I don't normally use that account for auto-pay. When I called to complain about the unauthorized charge, the representative wouldn't take responsibility even though she was the one who said they wouldn't use that card again. She refused to let me talk to a manager and said they won't remove the card from their system, claiming they'll charge it if my other payment method fails. That's not an authorized payment method anymore. I kept arguing with her but she had zero interest in helping. I ended up having to contact my bank, get a new debit card number, and dispute the whole thing. This is by far the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
I ordered a rental instrument and waited two weeks with nothing. Called four times and kept getting the same story everyone else mentions about them outsourcing overseas. The reps are actually friendly but they can't help because apparently the warehouse didn't send tracking information. They said they'd email when they had it. Never heard back. I tried emailing too and got nothing, and yes I checked spam. This is a pretty lazy way to run a business. I wouldn't deal with them again. Total waste of my time and no way to get updates.
Music and Arts is terrible, honestly. They're some big corporation that's swallowing up all the local music and rental shops. Their customer service people are outsourced, mostly to the Philippines I think. They have no idea what they're doing. Their website is awful too. I emailed them twice through their site and never got a single response. I'm going somewhere else for renting instruments for my grandkids.
Worst customer service I've had. I called to complain that the store was making kids wear masks. The person on the phone was incredibly unprofessional and actually hung up on me when I said I wouldn't have my kids wear masks and that they haven't in two years. I'm pulling my kids out right now. Don't go here.
STAY AWAY from this place and shop elsewhere. After I returned an instrument, they billed me $50 for equipment I never even bought or had. I talked to them twice and they said they'd handle it. Then a month later I got a letter from a collections agency trying to get me to pay. It's not really about the $50, it's the principle that they charged me for stuff I never got and instead of fixing it like decent people, they sent it to collections. Be careful and don't do business here. They're dishonest.
