What Shoppers Say About Nanit
Nanit receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 16 shoppers rating it 1.4 out of 5. The primary complaints center on pricing: the camera costs over $300, and Nanit charges ongoing monthly subscription fees for basic features like sleep tracking that shoppers expected to be included indefinitely (free access lasts only six months). Reviewers report difficulty reaching customer support and describe the setup process as cumbersome. Several shoppers feel the company's pricing model amounts to overcharging for what is essentially a standard camera. Software issues also frustrate users, with background audio features toggling unexpectedly and forcing an annoying picture-in-picture mode.
A small minority of reviewers (around 13 percent) rate Nanit positively, acknowledging that the technology functions adequately and the monitoring features are genuinely useful for tracking infant sleep. However, even these satisfied customers acknowledge the high cost and wish subscription fees were lower given the initial hardware investment. The consensus suggests that while the product works as intended technically, the business model and pricing structure generate significant customer dissatisfaction.

Sorted by: Most recentWay too pricey for what you actually get. The camera alone runs over £300, and that's literally all it is. Then they want more money for a subscription just to see your baby's sleep duration or wake-up counts? That's pretty messed up. Looking back, I thought basic sleep insights came with it indefinitely, but nope - only six months free, then you pay. At that price point, having to shell out extra is absolutely ridiculous. Over £300 for just a camera, and it works fine I guess, but there are tons of comparable cameras out there for way less. Genuinely let down - if I'd known about these additional charges beforehand, I never would have bought it. Overpriced by at least £100 compared to what you get.
It's not the worst thing ever, honestly. Yeah, it costs a lot for what it does, but the basics function okay. Some of these one-star complaints seem over the top. That said, there are definitely problems. Software updates keep turning the background audio feature on and off, which forces the picture-in-picture mode that's incredibly annoying. You can't opt out of updates either, and half the time they make things worse. The temp reading is pretty unreliable too. The activity tracker keeps failing, which is particularly frustrating since we're paying subscription fees for that exact feature. Plus the camera makes a loud noise when you disable the breathing monitor - wakes the kid up every time when we're the ones who need sleep. Why is that sound even there? Bottom line: Nanit is just okay, definitely not as bad as those 1-2 star reviews claim, but nothing special either.
Good luck getting help if something goes wrong - they're basically unreachable. When it actually works you're basically just paying a ridiculous amount for an expensive camera.
The product and what it does is really cool, and the tech side has genuinely made things easier for us. Only wish the monthly charge wasn't so high - we already invested in the hardware after all.
Honestly, one star doesn't even do this justice. This company is straight-up stealing from people. Zero real customer support and an absolutely ridiculous process just to set up the camera. We got our second unit last weekend because the first one's button got jammed... and there's literally no way to use it without picking a subscription. Sure, they mention a free trial on the packages, but they went ahead and charged $134.99 to my card anyway!!!!! It's insane. You pay through the nose for the device itself, then they milk you dry for the app. Are you kidding? Demand a refund - I DO NOT WANT THESE SUBSCRIPTION PLANS. All I want is to be able to see my kid on the camera we already purchased!!!
Hands down the worst device I've ever owned. Don't purchase this garbage from this garbage company.
Got a destroyed package shipped to me and they won't take it back. Both the outer box and everything inside were smashed and destroyed!!! They're refusing to give me a return label and insisting I pay for shipping it back myself. Never order from this company. I have to spend $50 just to return a damaged product for a refund - this is how they choose to do business. They turn down every single request, no exceptions, even when their own shipping caused the damage.
Really wanted this to be great. Been using the Nanit Pro for half a year now. Something's wrong with the app, and I'm seeing tons of other people complain about the same issues - it's pretty bad. Constantly won't open, disconnects and needs troubleshooting way too often. I'm in tech and sell software myself, so I get that bugs happen, but this feels like either a broken update or something else is going on. There's clearly widespread problems with their service. We're not paying for the app - I refuse to add another subscription charge to tech near my child. My guess? They probably throttle the free service to push upgrades. Anyway, hoping they sort this out soon.
Rating it a 1 because there's no zero option. Picked this up eight months ago for our second baby because of the portability and dual-screen feature. This thing is absolutely terrible. From day one we've had connectivity troubles. Swapped out the cameras three times already and still losing video, audio, and connection multiple times daily on both units. Nanit's support team is pleasant and quick to respond, but it's excuse after excuse with no actual solutions. We've even bought WiFi boosters and upgraded our whole internet setup because they blamed our connection initially. Now they keep saying it's being worked on but nothing changes. I asked if we could just get our money back. Nope - past the 45-day window so they won't do it. Asked to speak to someone in charge. Denied. They just want me to keep waiting. It's exhausting getting up all night unplugging and restarting both cameras several times because the feeds keep dying. These monitors are supposed to help you sleep better, not keep you up.
Total rip off, honestly. Do yourself a favor and avoid this brand. You're paying a fortune just to check if your baby is breathing using the sensor band. I have no clue why that's not included free. Apparently I can watch live on my phone for free but not my tablet. That's nuts. Oh, and they only send you one band sized for 0-3 months. Want a bigger one? Pay up. Most babies aren't even in their own crib until six months anyway. Want to move the camera to a different room? That'll be $100 extra for a travel stand. So if your little one falls asleep elsewhere, tough luck moving the camera there - especially after you've wall-mounted it above the crib with hidden wiring. I'm really angry about how much we dropped on this thing. It's going to murder the battery on both my phone and tablet just for viewing and listening. Get yourself a basic $40 monitor instead and forget this disaster. The picture quality is decent but any standard camera does the same thing without costing anything! Over £200 yearly just to save videos and monitor my baby sleeping wasn't in the budget. Might as well hire a real babysitter at that price.
