What Shoppers Say About Nanit
Nanit receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 16 shoppers rating it 1.4 out of 5. The primary complaints center on pricing: the camera costs over $300, and Nanit charges ongoing monthly subscription fees for basic features like sleep tracking that shoppers expected to be included indefinitely (free access lasts only six months). Reviewers report difficulty reaching customer support and describe the setup process as cumbersome. Several shoppers feel the company's pricing model amounts to overcharging for what is essentially a standard camera. Software issues also frustrate users, with background audio features toggling unexpectedly and forcing an annoying picture-in-picture mode.
A small minority of reviewers (around 13 percent) rate Nanit positively, acknowledging that the technology functions adequately and the monitoring features are genuinely useful for tracking infant sleep. However, even these satisfied customers acknowledge the high cost and wish subscription fees were lower given the initial hardware investment. The consensus suggests that while the product works as intended technically, the business model and pricing structure generate significant customer dissatisfaction.

Sorted by: Most recentI'm on my second unit now. After the first year - still paying the subscription, mind you - the original camera died and got replaced. Now a year later the replacement is also broken. Factor in the subscription nonsense and I can't recommend this to anyone. It's expensive, the monthly fees pile up quick, and it's just poorly built.
Insanely overpriced for a camera that barely works half the time and then wants you to pay more for basic features!!! Constantly seeing the troubleshoot screen. Completely unreliable.
I'm frustrated about dropping £200 on something that then demands a subscription. At that price, those features should come built in. I'm honestly dreading running into the same problems other people mention. It's installed and we'll give it time, but the picture quality isn't impressing me - honestly should be better at that cost. The app works fine enough. We wanted a decent baby monitor and went for the pricey option based on good reviews, no major expectations going in. But subscriptions after buying the actual product? That feels like a scam. It used to be you'd buy something decent and keep it - now it's all this extra squeezing money out of you after you've already paid.
Absolutely terrible service. My baby screams for hours before I get any alert. Connection drops all night long. The app is painfully slow to load. Overpriced and useless.
If you're shopping for a baby monitor, please don't buy Nanit. Just don't. We dropped £250 after seeing great recommendations on parenting forums. Honestly, I can't remember being more disappointed with something we bought - and even more frustrated with their terrible support. Long story short - at just over a year, our camera stopped working. Period. Instead of actually helping, Nanit support just sends the identical copy-pasted troubleshooting steps over and over. We've already done every single one multiple times. It's like arguing with a wall. A wall that stole £250 from you for a broken product. It was flaky from the beginning, disconnecting constantly. Now that our son is sick and we need it most, it's completely dead. But Nanit? They just keep sending the same steps or asking pointless questions like 'what router are you using' - despite us telling them the issue happens no matter where we take it, not just home, and despite already trying their suggestions with a mobile hotspot. So clearly it's not the router. This has been absolutely infuriating.
I wish I could rate this lower than one star. Constantly dealing with connection problems. And their solution is always 'just restart the camera' (which is super helpful when your baby is finally asleep). Plus, how greedy do you have to be to lock basic baby info behind a paywall?? It's also pretty telling that they ignore all the awful feedback on review sites. Tells you everything you need to know - they got your money and that's all they care about.
