What Shoppers Say About Okabashi Brands
Okabashi Brands elicits deeply polarized reactions from shoppers, with ratings split almost evenly between one star and five stars. Long-time loyal customers praise the durability and comfort of classic styles like the Maui and Torino, with some reporting decades of wear. However, recent purchasers express significant frustration with apparent quality decline, inconsistent sizing from year to year, unresponsive customer service, and shipping issues. Multiple reviewers note that newer products feel cheaper than older versions despite higher prices, and that the brand has made design changes that diminish the original appeal of signature models.
Customer service emerges as a critical pain point, with several shoppers unable to reach the company via email or phone regarding returns, shipping problems, or product concerns. Quality control issues including mismatched straps and inconsistent shoe dimensions across orders frustrate recent customers. The brand's inability to maintain consistent product specifications year over year, combined with apparent production changes, has caused some previously loyal customers to discontinue purchases.

Sorted by: Most recentJust tried to return some sandals because they weren't comfortable and weren't what I expected. The moment they came in, I tried them on and stuck them right back in the box. But good luck getting any help from their customer service team because it basically doesn't exist. Sent two different emails to the address on their website, tried calling too, and once they have your cash they just disappear!
Nothing beats these flip flops, seriously! I've been wearing them for over two decades at this point. The customer service team is fantastic and really helpful. I've checked out plenty of other brands and none of them even come close to what these offer. Please stay in business forever!
Something's changed with this brand, maybe a new manufacturer or ownership situation. I've had the Maui style for six years and just got a new pair. The new ones cost more but feel cheaper, the straps don't match between shoes, and they're really flimsy. Used to have a red Okabashi label in the heel but now it's black instead. If you find the old version, go for that because the new stuff is pointless. The toe separator is terrible too and rubs between my toes constantly, making them unwearable. I'm fighting this charge with my bank.
The Breeze sandal I keep buying seems to run bigger and bigger every year. I ordered the same size small this year and it's practically a shoe boat next to the pair I got last year. Not worth the hassle of shipping it back, but this is year three of this happening so I'm done buying from them. It shouldn't be this hard to keep a simple sandal consistent.
I bought a pair of shoes on 12/2/2024 for $70.50 that never showed up. Got a shipping notification on 12/9/2024, but when I tracked the package after a couple weeks, it said the label was created but never actually scanned into the USPS system. I tried calling multiple times and sending emails, but nobody ever got back to me. Had no choice but to file a dispute through my payment provider. The customer service here is honestly awful. This feels like straight up theft.
I've been a loyal Okabashi customer for the past three decades. The Torino is hands down my go-to choice when I'm outside, mainly because of that fantastic deep curve in the heel area. Unfortunately, they changed the design and now the heel is flat, chunky, and weighs more than before. I grabbed a couple of the new ones to test them out, but honestly they're uncomfortable and my heel starts bothering me after wearing them. I'm going to send back my old pair for recycling, and I'm also returning the new style since I can't wear them. It would mean a lot if you'd bring back that original deep heel design. I'd definitely buy them again. Thanks for listening.
My first pair of Oka-B flats came in really quickly earlier this year. I'm hooked now and won't wear anything else. They're comfier, they last way longer, you can wash them, they're better for the environment, and they're made right here in America. Plus the color selection is incredible.
I absolutely adore these flip flops. I grabbed a pair at a drugstore in Hawaii back when my feet were killing me. I've gotten nine months of wear out of them before the part that goes between your toes finally snapped. I'm 65 years old and I take my word seriously. Lost the receipt somehow, but I still have the plastic hang tag. Would you be willing to send me a replacement? I really miss wearing them and I'm being straight with you about what happened. Thank you.
