What Shoppers Say About Palace Resorts
Palace Resorts receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 20 shoppers rating the company at 1.7 out of 5. The most serious complaints involve unauthorized charges (including a case where $8,700 was charged nine months before a scheduled trip), broken promises on complimentary stays earned through loyalty, and alleged detention of guests over payment disputes. Long-term customers report sudden changes in service quality and what they describe as fraudulent business practices. A small segment of reviewers (15 percent) gave five-star ratings, but positive feedback is minimal compared to the volume of severe complaints about billing practices, customer service failures, and contract disputes.
Recurring issues include unauthorized credit card charges that resulted in overdraft fees and foreign exchange charges, refusal to honor advertised benefits and earned rewards, and difficulties resolving disputes. Reviewers characterize the company as untrustworthy and recommend avoiding the brand entirely, with some suggesting competitors like Hilton as alternatives. The concentration of one-star ratings (80 percent) reflects consistent dissatisfaction across billing, customer service, and contract fulfillment.

Sorted by: Most recentWhen I tried to file a complaint over the phone, I got the complete runaround. They kept hanging up on me and all I heard was constant offers to book a reservation. I would not stay here under any circumstances. The phone system is a mess and totally reflects how little they care about their guests. Stay far away! This whole operation is a con.
I've been with Palace since 2010 and attended countless upgrade and update sessions over the years, so I need to caution folks about signing these deals. Every time I've agreed to new contracts, I end up losing benefits I originally had, and nobody tells you this upfront. You think upgrading means keeping what you have while getting more, but that's not how it works. They ask for your credit card for a deposit before the contract is even written. Then when you see the actual paperwork, it's totally different from what the sales rep promised. They zoom through the contract really fast, highlighting only the good stuff and glossing over what's being taken away. Plus the text on the tablet is so tiny you can't really read much of it. They did add a 5-day window to review and cancel, but at that point you're still vacationing without lawyer access, and reading the document on your phone is nearly impossible. I went through this in December and cancelled within 5 days. It then took several months to get my credit card refunded and I had to dispute the charges to get my money back.
Moon Palace operates in a very unethical manner. We got a price quote for a week-long vacation and paid it in full. Several weeks down the line they phoned saying we needed to pay an extra $1000. Since we'd already bought plane tickets, we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. We're now in contact with the Better Business Bureau, and it turns out there are tons of complaints. Avoid this place.
Watch Out for Shady Deals at Le Blanc. My experience at Le Blanc was spoiled by a dishonest promotion I feel I should tell others about. When leaving, my group got offered what looked like an awesome deal: a certificate worth $299 per night for up to four nights. The pitch seemed clear, so we bought in. When I tried to actually use it, I found out the reality was completely different from what was pitched. Instead of paying $299 per night, the actual value depends on current rates and some mystery discount applied at booking time. This was never mentioned during the sales conversation. Basically, we paid $299 upfront for something with unclear value. This deceptive sales approach is really frustrating and feels like it's meant to trick departing guests. The way they hide details and avoid being transparent makes it obvious the promotion is designed to confuse and trick people. If you're thinking about this kind of offer or anything similar, be careful.
Palace Resorts will take advantage of you. They're dishonest and their membership scams are terrible. Don't join. You have no way to fight back. Complete rip-off.
I'm organizing a Mexico vacation for later this summer. I've noticed Palace resorts pricing varies quite a bit across different booking sites. Frustratingly, whenever I spot what looks like a bargain, it's a classic bait and switch. Even calling Palace directly, I got attitude, unhelpful staff and pricing that wasn't transparent. After trying a fourth time to complete my booking, with a 9pm deadline to confirm, the representative kept talking until 9:01 then claimed they closed and couldn't honor the rate. That's it for me. I won't be giving Palace resorts any business or energy in the future.
The resorts themselves look gorgeous. The meals are decent, not outstanding. The drink service by the pool is passable. We appreciated it enough that we let them convince us to purchase a membership. That turned out to be the worst choice we ever made. The sales pitch presented benefits that weren't honest, with ridiculously short time limits. The pricey membership contract really just gets you a so-called discount on the all-inclusive, but those same deals show up on standard travel booking sites anyway. DO NOT BUY A MEMBERSHIP. They dazzle you with fancy hotels and sell memberships at inflated prices. Also, the agreement only works in a Mexican court system. They offered to accept our timeshare but never completed the transaction. That ended up costing us two years of upkeep fees paid ahead of time including the loss of stays we had a right to. When we brought these problems up, they suggested a shady broker with no real office. The broker phoned me to discuss my issues. Obviously a con artist. Palace Elite memberships aren't worth the thousands they charge.
Moon Palace is our go-to resort! We've stayed at both the Nizuc and Grand properties multiple times and we're completely hooked. Hands down the greatest trips we've experienced, and that's exactly why we keep coming back. The hospitality is unmatched, the personnel are wonderful, the suites are spotless and huge, and the cuisine is excellent. We're enthusiastic recommenders!
These resorts are our absolute favorite! We've visited Moon Palace several times, staying at both Nizuc and the Grand, and we're obsessed. The best vacations we've ever taken, which is why we keep returning. Outstanding service from every team member, incredibly friendly staff, immaculate and roomy accommodations, delicious meals. We tell everyone about this place.
The Most Incredible Getaway Ever. We've seen the world and stayed in fancy hotels everywhere, but the Sun Palace in Cancun beats them all. We like exploring different destinations and trying new places, but we're heading back to the Sun Palace for the third visit because nothing comes close. It's adults-only with a full spa, beauty center, workout area, four dining spots, room service, stocked minibar and tons of activities and tours. It's all inclusive in the nightly rate. Some treatments cost extra but they're worth every penny. Fifteen minutes from the airport, right on the sand with table service, and every room is a full suite. The quality is outstanding across everything, from cuisine and beverages to how the team treats you. They bend over backwards to make your stay amazing. The most peaceful and fun trip we've had, and we can't say enough great things. We're heading back in a few weeks and we're counting down the days.
