What Shoppers Say About Rad Power Bikes
Rad Power Bikes has a highly polarized customer base, rated 2.8 out of 5 by 20 shoppers. Satisfied customers praise the bikes for reliability and highlight exceptional customer service, with some reviewers reporting that the company has gone beyond warranty terms to help loyal customers. However, a majority of reviewers report significant quality and durability issues, including battery failures, controller malfunctions, brake problems, and water damage to electrical components. Common complaints center on premature failures within or shortly after warranty periods, limited one-year battery warranties that shoppers consider inadequate, difficulty obtaining service outside authorized areas, and what some describe as a decline in build quality compared to the company's earlier products.
The most contentious issues involve design flaws that expose electrical components to water damage and controller failures that occur early in the bike's life. Reviewers express frustration with warranty limitations and the challenge of getting repairs when they live in areas without Rad Power service networks. The stark divide in ratings suggests that while some customers experience excellent products and support, many others encounter defective units or face obstacles when attempting to resolve issues.

Sorted by: Most recentMy rad trike quit working after just one month. Their phone lines are shut down, and when you email them they keep asking for pictures and videos no matter how much information you already sent. It's been over three weeks with over 20 emails and they just keep asking for more. There's no warranty coverage, making this feel like a scam. Eventually you get fed up and end up fixing it yourself.
I got a Rad Expand 5 in spring of 2023. The packaging was poor and it arrived damaged with gouges on the frame and a bent brake rotor. I also noticed the 750 watt motor was only running at 500 watts. I sent an email in late June but only got automated responses about how busy they are. After that, nothing. I tried calling many times but the phone system is down. Months went by with zero response to my follow-up emails. A company claiming great customer service should not ignore customers like this. This was my second Rad bike and there won't be another one. The service is terrible and I have concerns about product quality. Update: Eventually I did get in touch with someone and they fixed the problem, so I'm adjusting my rating to reflect that. Still, the process was way too slow and frustrating initially.
Rad Power Bikes is a really cool company. Their founder Mike Radenbaugh genuinely cares about both his customers and staff, and he works hard to create innovative and well-built electric bikes. Any product can have issues now and then, and I know this from working as a technician, but Rad puts real effort into supporting customers before and after purchase. I ride a Rad Runner and I'm a huge fan. It's got over 3,000 miles of hard riding on it and runs like it's brand new.
The bike worked great for the first four months, then battery problems started. Their customer support is really bad. It's been over a month and a half and I haven't gotten a single response to my emails or through their live chat. They keep using the excuse that they're swamped. I bought my RadRunner Plus in late September, and the battery stopped charging in early July. Since then I've sent multiple emails weekly and spent tons of time on their chat waiting for responses. I would never recommend buying from this company based on how awful their support is.
I own both a Rad Runner and a Rad Wagon and I'm extremely happy with both purchases. Between them I've put over 4,400 miles on these bikes and they just keep working. People always comment on how cool they look when I'm riding around. My family loves using the Rad Wagon for trips around town with my kids. The smiles on their faces make every ride special. Since getting these bikes, I barely drive my truck anymore. My truck battery has actually died a couple times from sitting unused. When I think about the money saved per mile and gas I'm not buying, these bikes make total financial sense too. These are eco-friendly, budget-friendly, and just plain fun. If you want a practical and enjoyable way to get around, I strongly suggest trying Rad Power Bikes.
We've experienced three major problems with our Rad Rover step through models, but each time the company's customer service has been fantastic. When my wife's Rad Rover had battery charging troubles, we brought it to the Salt Lake City location. Liam from their service team was outstanding. He diagnosed the issue, apologized for the problem, and replaced the battery at no charge. He also answered all our questions in detail and gave us great tips for maintaining our bikes ourselves. Liam really represents what Rad Power Bikes is all about. We're grateful for everyone at the Salt Lake City store.
I don't understand why people give Rad Power Bikes bad reviews. Three weeks ago I got a Radrover 6 plus and have ridden it over 140 miles without any problems. It rides smoothly, has great power, and goes the distance. The bike feels solid and durable yet is still really easy and comfortable to ride. There was one small issue when I opened it up though. My front fender bracket came damaged, likely from the rough shipping box, but customer service had a replacement out the very next day. At my size of 6 feet and 250 pounds, this bike performs great. I get about 22 miles on pure throttle and 40 to 60 miles with throttle assist based on how much I use it. I've taken it down some dirt trails with jumps and it handles them perfectly. This bike is versatile, working great for casual neighborhood rides or serious trail riding. At 61 years old, I'd forgotten how much I love riding a bike. This one brought that passion back. Best money I've spent in a long time.
My spouse and I visited the showroom in Imperial Beach to shop for an electric bike. We had a fantastic experience test riding five different models until we found the perfect fit. We chose the Radrover 6+ and absolutely love it. The team, led by their knowledgeable staff, was incredibly kind and patient with us as newcomers to e-bikes. Since there are so many of these bikes around our area, I'm confident the brand will stick around for service and support. I highly suggest making the trip to their showroom if you're in the market for an e-bike.
Two RadRover bikes arrived and I'm really impressed with everything about them. The packaging was excellent and assembly was straightforward. The attention to detail on these bikes is obvious from how carefully they were boxed to the clear assembly instructions. This is clearly a well-made product with great support materials. Thanks so much!
