What Shoppers Say About Sewingmachinesplus
Sewingmachinesplus has deeply polarized shoppers, with ratings split between enthusiastic long-term customers and frustrated first-time buyers. Loyal customers praise the company's technical support quality and helpfulness, with some reporting positive experiences across multiple purchases over years. However, a substantial portion of recent reviews highlight serious fulfillment and support issues: defective products arriving with inadequate troubleshooting assistance, misleading information about backordered items, excessive wait times (some exceeding a month), unresponsive phone support, and the discovery that the company dropships products directly from manufacturers rather than stocking inventory.
The most consistent complaints involve post-purchase communication failures. Shoppers report difficulty reaching customer service by phone, unfulfilled promises from representatives to follow up, and inadequate guidance when products arrive damaged or defective. Some customers discovered tracking numbers did not work in carrier systems, and one reviewer noted the company failed to disclose that they operate as a middleman rather than a direct seller. While the company has added chat support and some customers report positive resolutions, the recurring theme across negative reviews is that support becomes difficult to reach after the sale, leaving customers with unresolved problems.

Sorted by: Most recentPurchased a King quilter elite and once it arrived I found the stitching was really uneven. Talked to support about fixing it but didn't get the guidance I needed. Sent it in for service and when it came back the problem was still there. Been trying to reach them by phone since then and they won't call me back. Honestly don't feel right even giving this a one star.
Really impressed with how helpful their customer service team was. Also happy they added chat support as an option.
Got a three-piece ruler foot set for my Grace longarm and immediately had problems. When I tried to track my order using the number they emailed, the system said it didn't exist. Called them up and learned they're basically just dropshipping from Grace. The rep said she'd have a Grace representative reach out to me directly. Never happened. Called back two days later asking them to cancel the whole thing, get my money back, and send confirmation. I made sure to verify my email with them, and I know it's correct because I get about five marketing emails daily. No refund showed up and no confirmation either. That's 146 dollars down the drain with nothing to show for it. Steer clear of this place.
Update: Finally got my order on February 14th and everything came through as expected. But I won't be shopping there again. It took me making three separate calls and waiting thirty-nine days total. Placed the order on January 7th and got a message saying one item was backordered with a seven to ten business day wait. After twelve days I called to check in. Turns out one item got discontinued without any notification to me. That's the only thing that was delayed. Staff was friendly and offered a different color as a swap, but that was backordered too. I said no thanks to waiting another week plus. By January 28th I was calling a third time. Staff remained pleasant, but I realized they'd already charged my card on Sunday. I told them to drop the backordered stuff. Haven't gotten a shipping confirmation yet so I can't speak to how good their actual products are.
Had a decent experience overall with the team, though there have been some hiccups. Ordered an embroidery machine bundle initially and they didn't mention upfront that one component was backordered. We worked through a software issue together and they fixed it. My follow-up order for another accessory went smoothly without problems. But then I placed an order on August 9th for a heat press and laser system. It took forever to ship out, which I get they're understaffed, but the delivery has been a nightmare. Three weeks and counting. I keep getting different excuses when I call - first it's supposedly out for delivery that day but never shows, then they claim someone tried to call me which didn't happen, and it's apparently been sitting in Ohio since mid-August. Just promised someone would ring Friday to schedule delivery. I had a vendor event coming up and really needed this weeks ago. Honestly pretty let down by how this one turned out.
I've been buying from Sewing Machines Plus for the past four years and their service keeps being great. Picked up a King Quilter II Elite longarm with frame back in October 2020. Their tech support is really solid whenever I've needed it. Added a robotics system to my collection two years back, then grabbed a Juki machine recently. Everything about working with them has been positive and I'd recommend them without hesitation.
Bought two machines from these folks who claim I'm a valued customer. First was a Janome MC6650 for myself and I absolutely loved it. Since quilting's supposed to help with stress and I was looking for ways to manage my health, I wanted to get my sister the same machine so she could enjoy it too. I specifically asked them to throw in a walking foot and quarter inch foot with guide. Well, they added a walking foot and quarter inch foot, except they were for a different Janome model entirely. Not what I asked for. Been thinking about getting into longarm quilting, but honestly between this mix-up and everything else, I'm having second thoughts.
Put in an order over Thanksgiving weekend and we're well into December now with no shipment. They keep saying the manufacturer is responsible and that they're a dropshipper, which wasn't mentioned in the product description at all. No heads up about delays or that it would take this long. Won't be ordering from them again.
Received a Juki HZL-G120 and as soon as I opened it up, I knew something was off. The tension wasn't right and it didn't sew smoothly at all. When I took out the bobbin, I saw red fibers stuck in there, which made it obvious this was a used machine. Called to arrange a return and they hit me with a twenty percent restock charge. Not dealing with this company ever again.
