What Shoppers Say About southwestvacations.com
Southwest Vacations is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 16 shoppers, with all reviews giving the lowest possible rating. Shoppers report serious issues across multiple categories: billing problems including unexpected charges for baggage that packages claim to include free, points not being awarded correctly or at all, misleading information from booking agents about what is and is not included in packages, and failure to resolve complaints adequately. Several customers describe feeling scammed or nickel-and-dimed, with one reporting being charged multiple times for a booking that never went through and another noting that advertised amenities like airport transportation were not actually available despite agent confirmation.
Customers consistently express frustration with the company's lack of transparency regarding what package inclusions actually cover and describe poor customer service when attempting to resolve issues. Complaints range from missing items (a watch reportedly stolen from a hotel room with no resolution offered) to room errors that the company acknowledged but only partially compensated. The overwhelming consensus from these reviews is that shoppers do not recommend using Southwest Vacations for vacation bookings.

Sorted by: Most recentScammed by Southwest Hotels on Points Timing. I completed hotel stays that should have qualified me for a companion pass based on when the stays happened, but they backdated my points to when I made the reservation instead. That's not right and Southwest should be upset about this. I won't be using them for hotel bookings anymore.
Total Disappointment - Don't Believe the Ratings. Shows 4.5 stars but that's completely bogus. The room has a coffee maker but you have to buy the pods yourself for like $30 per pack. They nickel and dime you for everything. Absolutely nothing is free. Want to check in early? That'll cost you. The whole place feels cheap and I feel ripped off. Disappointing that Southwest is connected to this place, and same goes for their hotel partner.
Overcharged for Baggage and Never Got My Watch Back. Southwest Vacations claims their packages include two free checked bags, so why did they charge me $156 to add two checked bags for my round trip? My hotel in Hawaii was the Sheraton, and someone took my Tag Heuer watch worth about $2000 from my room. I reported it to housekeeping and management, but all I got was the runaround. Not doing business with them again.
Getaways Gave False Information and Offered No Real Help. I called ahead to make sure airport transportation to the resort was available and they said yes. After I booked, the resort reached out asking if I needed transport because third party bookings don't include it. I called Southwest again and they quoted $200 one way. After talking to three different people over hours, they said I could get a travel credit for the full amount if I cancelled, but nothing else. They said supervisors don't take calls and told me to fill out a form for the loyalty team. In the form they admitted they gave me wrong information but said they wouldn't be doing anything about it. Southwest then told me they don't override anything Getaways does. Bottom line, unless you want a useless credit that doesn't even work for flights alone, book direct with the hotel and avoid Getaways completely.
Complete Scam - Charged Three Times With No Trip Booked. I went to Southwest Getaways and reserved a Las Vegas vacation package with flights and hotel. After finishing checkout, I got a confirmation number, then got an error saying part of my vacation didn't book. My credit card was charged anyway. I called right away and the agent said he didn't know what went wrong but would cancel it and book it manually. He booked it and got another error. Now my card has been charged twice for two Las Vegas vacations that don't actually exist. I've been trying for two weeks to get refunds and they're saying it could take 30 days. They charge you, don't provide anything, then they get to keep your money earning interest for a month. This is a scam. I'm contacting the Attorney General and making sure everyone I know avoids them.
Wanted Bonus Points But Got Headaches Instead. I booked an overnight stay through Southwest Hotels for extra points. They messed up my room - I asked for two beds and they gave me one, and the hotel couldn't fix it. They admitted the mistake but only offered a $50 partial refund. They said a special team through Hyperwallet would call with a credit. That was two months ago. I've called and emailed repeatedly with nothing to show for it. I'm extremely angry and will never use them again.
Avoid Southwest Vacations - This Was My First and Last Time. I usually book on my own, but decided to try them. We had stayed at RIU resorts multiple times over the years and booked three rooms at RIU Palace Peninsula again. I needed a connected two bedroom suite with an ocean view, my mom wanted a junior suite with ocean view, and our friend also wanted a junior suite with ocean view. When we got there, the hotel overbooked and told us connected rooms weren't available. They offered two separate junior suites side by side instead, even though they're not connected. They said to come back the next day to switch rooms, but when we checked, they still didn't have anything. You can't put young kids in their own room in another country. My wife and I had to sleep in different rooms just to watch over our children while keeping them close. My mom got her correct room with the king bed, but our friends didn't get what they booked either.
Never Use Southwest Vacations - Terrible Experience. I spent over a month fighting with them with zero results. The hotel told them directly they gave me a refund, but Southwest Vacations kept blaming the hotel and claiming they were fixing it. They lied about helping. Nothing was ever resolved. Companies like this should be embarrassed for how they treat their customers.
Skip Southwest Vacations - Major Mistake! I should have done my homework before booking. As someone who's flown Southwest for over 30 years, I was let down by this experience. What I didn't realize was that Southwest Vacations charges way more than booking directly with hotels. After spending nearly two hours on the phone, all they offered was to cancel my whole package, which means losing my flights and getting credit I'd have to use through their same overpriced system. When I contacted Southwest Airlines, they said only their email support could help. Their response seemed automated and just pointed me to partner programs for points. Every avenue led nowhere.
Don't Book Through Southwest Vacations - Just Don't! Their refund policy is terrible. I got sick after booking a trip for my mother and myself. An hour on the phone just to be told I wouldn't get money back, only credits split two ways. My airline credit works forever, but the hotel package expires in a year and disappears if I don't use it. When I tried booking with my credits online, it wouldn't go through. For the airline part, they said I had to call and warned me about long waits and hard-to-understand representatives. Then they told me my mom had to go on the trip since I originally booked it in her name, even though I paid for it and it's my credit. I asked for a supervisor and was told they'd just say the same thing. When I pointed out this seems like a waste of my time, they blamed Southwest Airlines policy. Their customer service and policies are awful. Stay away from this company.
