What Shoppers Say About spellbinderspaperarts.com
Spellbinders Paper Arts sells paper crafting supplies including die sets and cutting machines, but shoppers report serious problems with the company's operations. Reviewers consistently complain about unresponsive customer support that refuses to modify or cancel orders, extremely slow shipping, unexplained order cancellations, and a deterioration in service quality. Multiple customers describe support staff as unhelpful and inflexible, directing customers to policy pages rather than resolving issues. Some reviewers also mention quality control problems with products like die sets that have poorly positioned stitch holes.
A small portion of shoppers praise the company's products themselves, noting that die sets and accessories like the Comfort Grip handle are well-designed and versatile. However, even these positive comments come from customers who acknowledge frustrations with the company's other operations. The overwhelming consensus is that while Spellbinders once had a strong reputation among crafting communities, current fulfillment practices and customer service have deteriorated significantly, leading most reviewers to recommend looking for alternative suppliers.

Sorted by: Most recentThey used to be amazing. Now it's all chatbots and sluggish fulfillment without any updates. That doesn't deserve any stars. Look for a different supplier.
By accident I ordered two of the same item because my internet was slow while shopping on a weekend. I immediately emailed support. Their response was to check their policy page and that they can't modify anything. What terrible support! I wish I'd looked at reviews first before ordering based on watching a crafter on YouTube praise them. Going forward I'll be more cautious. There are too many other options out there to put up with this kind of treatment.
They sell some beautiful die sets, I'll give them that. However, their support team is completely unhelpful, shipping takes forever, and orders get cancelled without explanation. Don't even bother trying to modify an order or send something back - it won't happen. I got excited about their revamped monthly club until they suddenly cancelled my January order two weeks after I placed it and gave zero real explanation. I should've automatically been enrolled for the following month since I'd ordered in January, but wasn't. When I tried to grab the kit on the first day it was available, it was already gone. No explanation, no transparency. Better idea - buy their dies from Amazon or another reseller instead of dealing directly with this company.
If zero stars were an option, I'd give that. The Cozy Cluck Chicken Die Cut is terrible. The stitch holes sit way too close to the edge. Even using just two strands of thread and a tiny needle, the stitches go right through the edge of the wool felt and wreck whatever you're making. I've done plenty of felt die cut projects from other manufacturers and never had this problem. I tested it on paper cardstock too. Several of the layers only cut stitching holes in the top layer, so you have to manually punch through two layers with an awl or needle - neither option is enjoyable. For forty-two ninety-nine this die doesn't work with felt or paper. I bought it for entertainment and it's been an absolute nightmare with my time and materials wasted. I won't even try to sell it because it's so poorly made. I'm done with Spellbinder products forever.
The Comfort Grip handle was advertised to work with Platinum and Scout cutters. Adding a small amount of dish soap to the inside made it fit on Big Shot Plus, Crossover II, and Scout machines too.
I used to promote this company when I ran a worldwide rubber stamping community. But when they started pushing subscribers to write politicians, that crossed the line for me. I stopped supporting them and won't recommend them anymore. I actively tell crafters to look elsewhere.
I really like what they make and the pricing is pretty fair, but shipping and delivery are the main problem - that's why it's only two stars. On May 27th I ordered two items expecting them within 3-7 days like their website promises. It's not like they have a ton to pack with just two things. I paid for shipping since the order was under one hundred dollars. More than ten days went by and nothing showed up yet. Checked my USPS tracking and it said it might arrive around 9pm on June 10th. That's nearly two weeks total. I've been sitting with my cut-out fridge projects waiting to decorate them, but after all this time I moved on to something else and almost finished that instead. They really need to fix their shipping and delivery. Now I'm not interested in ordering more from their site.
Spellbinders shouldn't charge your card if they're not going to ship within reasonable timeframe. Payment should happen after the order ships, not before. Taking money without sending anything seems like theft to me (roughly six hundred fifty dollars worth). Waiting over four weeks without any real updates is not acceptable, regardless of whatever 'system problems' they claim happened during software transitions. Their CEO's statement says they can process new orders but apparently not the older ones. This pattern of promising one thing and delivering another will lose you loyal customers. Since late December 2024, their support has been unhelpful except for offering refunds. Based on what I've been through, I cannot recommend shopping here.
I've been ordering from them for years and spent thousands of dollars. I placed an order on November 15th, 2024, and still haven't received it. My attempts to contact them have gone nowhere. At this point I'm going to call my credit card company to dispute the charge. I'm really let down by this.
Hands down the worst customer service I've experienced. I messed up a club order and cancelled within the permitted timeframe. For a week I've been trying to get in touch and keep getting nowhere. They still charged me anyway. Shipping everything takes an eternity. Go to scrapbook.com instead - way better.
