What Shoppers Say About sweetgreen
Sweetgreen shoppers are deeply divided. Loyal customers praise the food quality and commend the customer service team for stepping up when problems occur, with some noting they order frequently through the app. However, nearly half of all reviewers gave one-star ratings, citing serious concerns: food safety issues (hair found in salad with no refund offered), inconsistent allergy policies that discourage customers with dietary restrictions, frustration with the shift to kiosk-only ordering that removes face-to-face interaction, and difficulties with order fulfillment, delivery routing errors, and refund policies that some describe as inflexible.
The core tension appears to be between Sweetgreen's food quality and its operational and customer service inconsistencies. While some customers report responsive support, others describe being denied refunds for legitimate complaints or stuck in loops trying to resolve order issues. The new kiosk ordering system is a particular pain point for customers who valued personal interaction, and the handling of allergy requests has alienated a segment of health-conscious diners.

Sorted by: Most recentRecently visited the Sweetgreen location in Short North, Columbus, and I gotta say I was impressed. I'm normally not into the whole organic thing, but that Caesar Kale salad was legitimately one of the best I've ever had. Everything about it was surprisingly excellent. Plus the staff was really welcoming and upbeat - Madison and Bryon especially were constantly friendly with big smiles. Sweetgreen definitely deserves credit for what they put out.
Terrible service from the manager who was rude and unprofessional. The workers themselves were nice but everything moved at a snail's pace. Not worth going back to.
Had a really bad time trying to order online for a work gathering. Spent over an hour attempting to place an order, but both the website and their system kept failing. When I tried through a third-party app, they said Sweetgreen's system was down. Couldn't get in touch with anyone at the company either - texting their customer service team just gave me an automated message saying they weren't open yet. I also tried ordering directly from their site, but there was no way to schedule delivery ahead of time, even though their homepage says they offer it. This was supposed to be quick and easy, but turned into a complete disaster. I'm frustrated enough that I won't be giving them another chance when I reschedule this event.
Jordon and Steph really hooked us up at the Houston Montrose location with incredible protein bowls loaded with their caramelized garlic steak. The quality of ingredients really shines through, everything was beautifully assembled, and the staff was wonderful!
The team at the Houston Montrose spot really took care of us with some incredible protein bowls featuring their caramelized garlic steak. The ingredient quality was outstanding, beautifully put together, and the service was top notch!
Their customer service has gotten better. Response times are still a bit slow, but the website chatbot is usually pretty useful when you need help.
When I'm in a rush, this is my go-to choice for a quick meal. Sure, it's not homemade, but I feel so much better after eating here compared to other chain restaurants. The Harvest Bowl is my top pick by far!
Visited the relatively new location in Peabody, Massachusetts and was really let down by how the management operated. I saw a manager harshly criticizing a staff member about how the lettuce should be prepped instead of teaching them properly. This manager clearly needs some management training. It was uncomfortable watching this young employee get upset and nearly cry over being treated that way. Because of what I witnessed, I decided not to place an order there.
