What Shoppers Say About TripIt
TripIt receives a low average rating of 2.2 out of 5 from 16 shoppers, with more than half leaving just one star. The primary complaints center on technical failures: email import functionality no longer works reliably, itineraries get corrupted with incorrect dates and flight numbers, login verification loops endlessly, and password resets fail. Reviewers report that features that previously functioned properly have stopped working, and customer service is unavailable on weekends. A few long-time users express frustration that the service has degraded significantly in recent months. The small portion of positive reviews comes from users who appreciate the concept or have had basic flight upload work, though several note they are considering switching to alternatives due to current reliability issues.
One consistent theme among disappointed reviewers is the contrast between TripIt's paid subscription tier and its actual performance. Customers who paid for the Pro version feel particularly let down, noting that free alternatives handle core features like sharing better. Several reviews suggest the platform is experiencing widespread technical issues affecting basic functionality like email parsing and account access, with some long-time users contemplating abandoning the service if problems persist.

Sorted by: Most recentI've been traveling professionally since 1983. A friend suggested I get the Pro version so I bought it, thinking I'd get top notch service. I sent over 8 itinerary emails to the app and 4 of them got so mangled it caused real problems with incorrect dates, flight numbers, and times. Skip the pro upgrade and stick with the free option. At least with that you're not paying to have your information messed up.
I really used to enjoy this app. But lately whenever I try to upload my itineraries through email, nothing goes through. Features that used to work perfectly have stopped functioning.
I signed up for an account and tried to log in, but the system kept asking me to verify my email address over and over in an endless loop. I would rate this zero stars if the option existed because the app can't even handle basic login functionality, let alone let me see what features are available. Stay away from this! I'm also concerned about getting my information deleted from this platform since I don't trust a company that can't figure out how to let people sign in properly, and that makes me worried about how they handle user data overall.
My first account wouldn't let me sign back in when I wanted to try it out again. The password reset kept failing. And customer service doesn't exist on weekends, which would really suck if you're traveling and need help. After I finally got back in, uploading my flight details worked fine, but a tour reservation wasn't picked up by the system and I had to type it in manually, and then same thing with my first hotel. Why would I want to spend time entering everything manually using a complicated form when I already have all the info in my confirmation emails? The whole experience felt clunky, plus I was nervous about forwarding emails to a general address in the app without any security verification. I didn't feel comfortable doing that.
I was looking for something to replace Tripcase, and even though TripIt costs money, it performs much worse. The sharing features don't work at all and it's honestly insulting that a free app could handle this better.
I've been happy with TripIt for maybe a decade but something broke in the last few months. It's messing up itineraries and dates for different people, won't import some forwarded itineraries that used to work fine, stuff like that. I'm hoping they can fix this soon because if they don't, I'll probably have to find something else, and that would be disappointing.
Don't use this app because it has serious data security issues. I got it for an upcoming vacation based on recommendations I saw online. I removed it pretty quickly because it's not good, but that's honestly not even my main concern. The company had a data problem or attempted one. I was lucky because I use a completely different password for every single account I have. Make sure you use unique passwords with sketchy or poorly rated apps. Skip TripIt.
I'm honestly shocked by the one star reviews on here. I've been using this app for close to ten years and nothing else comes even close. Every once in a while something won't import properly, but when that happens it's usually because of how the email came through in the first place. I've recommended this app to a bunch of people I know who travel as much as I do, and they all agree it's super easy to work with. I should also mention that I've been at different airports around the world and gotten an alert from TripIt not only about a flight delay, but also a gate change, and we found out from the app before the airport even told us. That's incredible. I'm sorry the other reviewers didn't have a good experience, but I can tell them this app really does what it's supposed to do, and I'm going to keep using it.
I've had TripIt for a few years and while they've made improvements, they're coming way too slowly. The app feels sluggish in a lot of areas, especially when you're trying to add who else is traveling on your trip. Sharing trip info with other people is also pretty clunky, and doing it through email creates a bunch of headaches. Using WhatsApp to look at trip details isn't smooth either. A lot of ferry services still don't show up in the system, and the app isn't smart enough to figure out which trip a booking belongs to based on the dates, so I end up manually combining things all the time. I do really like getting baggage notifications and flight alerts though, those actually help quite a bit. My job covers my TripIt Pro account, but I haven't found the paid features to be worth much. So while there are some nice things about it, the overall experience is pretty frustrating, and I'd probably steer most people toward looking at other options.
Felt like I wasted my effort trying this out. The app only imported 1 out of 40 of my travel confirmation emails. The website interface was awkward and annoying to navigate when I attempted to manually add information. Also frustrated that the free plan limits you to 3 file attachments per trip because this feels like something that shouldn't have restrictions.
