What Shoppers Say About Universal Cycles
Universal Cycles receives polarized reviews that split sharply between enthusiastic repeat customers and frustrated first-time buyers. Satisfied shoppers praise the website's usability, detailed product information, fast shipping (including same-day delivery reported), free shipping offers, and responsive customer service. Long-term customers highlight reliable stock availability and consistent quality. However, nearly half of reviewers report significant problems. Common complaints center on strict return policies that reject used items and require original packaging, with customers noting the policies prevent testing products before committing. Service issues include delayed shipping, defective products upon arrival, and unresponsive support when handling returns. Shop service complaints involve scope creep (unauthorized work) and parts substitutions made without customer approval.
The stark divide in ratings suggests Universal Cycles delivers well for established customers familiar with its policies and requirements, but creates friction with new customers who encounter return restrictions and shipping delays. The store appears strongest in product selection and online ordering but weaker in return flexibility and proactive customer support when problems arise.

Sorted by: Most recentThink twice before ordering from here. If you need to return something, you're covering that shipping cost and sending it way out to Oregon instead of somewhere close by. Even tiny items cost a fortune to ship back.
Only come here if you're cool waiting around. Your order can sit in processing for a week before it even ships out.
Needed a Sunrace 11-42t 10 speed cassette in black and couldn't find it anywhere locally or through regular suppliers. UC had it in stock and available. They shipped it overnight from the Pacific Northwest all the way to me in the Southeast, arriving the next morning ready to install. I was able to get my weekend ride in without any issues. Definitely dependable.
The website design looks outdated and could use a major refresh. Beyond that though, I placed an order and they cancelled it saying my billing and shipping addresses were mismatched. I checked with my credit card company and everything checked out fine on their end, but UC wouldn't explain what their specific issue was. This place might work great if you're paying by check or something, but it's frustrating for those of us trying to shop like it's 2024. Hopefully they'll get their act together soon.
