What Shoppers Say About YouMail
YouMail is rated 1.6 out of 5 by 12 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. The primary complaints center on ineffective spam call blocking (calls still getting through despite the service's core purpose), confusing or malfunctioning app interfaces, unresponsive customer support, and difficulty obtaining refunds. Shoppers also report issues with unwanted call blocking, call rerouting problems, and billing practices where charges occur before trial periods are honored. One long-time user mentioned appreciating the service for years but encountered problems after upgrading their phone.
Few shoppers recommend YouMail based on available feedback. Those who gave higher ratings represent a small minority, while the overwhelming number of one-star reviews indicate fundamental problems with both the service's effectiveness and the company's customer service responsiveness. Multiple reviewers describe the experience as frustrating enough to prompt switching to competitor services, and several express skepticism about what YouMail actually delivers for spam protection.

Sorted by: Most recentUsed the free version for a while and got hammered with spam calls every single day, at least four or more. Nothing was getting blocked. Decided against paying for premium since it seemed pointless. Switched to a different free call blocker and haven't had a single spam call since. It makes you wonder what YouMail was actually doing for spam protection.
Everything went wrong from day one. The interface is confusing and blocks things you don't want blocked, which is really problematic when you rely on it for work. I upgraded to get phone support but still couldn't reach anyone. The app is terrible and they won't give you your money back.
Placed an order for a geranium through an online marketplace, and YouMail was listed as the seller. It was supposed to show up on November 13th but never did. Tried reaching out to them via the marketplace without any response. Eventually they agreed to send a refund, but getting there was a real pain and took way more effort than it should have.
Total rip-off. They claim to offer a free trial but you'll get charged right away. Good luck getting your money back. The only way to contact them is email, and if you don't respond to their verification code immediately, you're stuck. Definitely a scam operation.
Wanted a second number but what they're selling doesn't live up to the hype. I'm getting spam calls from numbers that show as blocked, and calls from my contacts are getting rerouted through YouMail instead of my carrier. When I decline a call, sometimes it keeps ringing after I swipe it away, and other times I can't get it to stop. This whole thing has been a headache and I had to pay for it. Now I'm worried about how canceling is going to go.
I've loved using YouMail for about 8 years, but recently upgraded to a new phone and now I can't get it to work properly even though I'm trying to renew my subscription. Really need some support here.
On July 19th, I paid $143.88 with my credit card to renew my annual service. I've been a customer for several years and never expected problems. I provided a bank statement showing the payment posted the next day, but they're making it incredibly difficult. I asked for either my money back or the services I paid for. Instead of helping, they told me to file a chargeback with my bank. I did that, but YouMail keeps emailing me claiming they don't believe I paid. This situation is frustrating. Stay away from YouMail.
A major newspaper recommended this app and it started off okay, but then gradually it started blocking calls I need and letting through calls I don't want. Trying to cancel is a nightmare. I went through the chatbot, the chat function, and supposedly live representatives but nobody helps. I've sat online for 20 minutes waiting with no response. It won't release my calls even after I switched to my carrier's app. Eventually I found a cancel button somewhere on their website.
Had a great experience using this service for many years. Really liked the backup phone line feature and the ability to set up custom voicemail messages. When I shut down my business and let my subscription lapse, they actually gave me a full refund on my annual fee even though I was a week late on renewal.
