Not ordering from Soft Surroundings anymore. The website said the item was in stock but it took over a month to show up. The sizing runs huge and makes it nearly impossible to find something that actually fits right, and returning stuff is way too complicated. Add in the incredibly slow shipping times and my whole experience was just frustrating from start to finish.

Don't order from here if you need items quickly. I placed an order for three pairs of pants in mid-February and a week went by with no shipment notice. When I reached out to customer service, they said the items were on backorder, which wasn't mentioned when I ordered. They claimed my spot was secured for the next shipment around March 6th. Flash forward to March 8th and still nothing in my mailbox. I called back and got another excuse about a new warehouse opening, with yet another projected ship date of March 20th. This is unacceptable. I'm talking about a month-long wait for items that cost a decent amount of money. You'd think at this price range they'd have their logistics figured out. Since Coldwater Creek took over Soft Surroundings, the service has really gone downhill. A company can't claim to be upscale and operate this way without losing customers.

I should have checked the reviews first. This was such a letdown. The whole company seems disorganized and kind of shady honestly. I got a dress, tunic, and crop pants for a birthday getaway to Florida and hadn't ordered from them in years. I remembered liking their stuff back then even though it's pricey. I gave myself plenty of time since it was a couple weeks before the trip and items normally ship within a day or two, right? Wrong. After a week I still hadn't gotten any shipping notification. I called and found out my order hadn't shipped yet because something was on backorder. They said it had arrived and everything was in the warehouse ready to go out the next day. Too late for regular shipping. I asked about rush shipping and was told it wasn't available because of warehouse changes. They also wouldn't let me cancel. Nobody had told me any of this beforehand either. Don't you usually get notified when things are delayed?

I used to shop there all the time when they had physical locations. Back then their clothing was really good quality and fit great. Lately the quality has tanked noticeably. There's nowhere on their website to give feedback either. I tried reaching out and they just sent me back to the same FAQ stuff. The Neera French Terry Tunic looks nothing like the picture in their catalog and it's way too stiff and heavy. I'm keeping it to avoid paying for return shipping. The Maize Plaid Velvet Tunic feels really thin and cheaply made compared to the velvet pieces I bought years ago in their brick-and-mortar stores. I'm happy to pay full price for quality and good service, but they're not delivering on either front anymore.

Their return and exchange policy is awful and I'm frustrated with how they handle things. Got a gift that I can't wear due to allergies and wanted to swap it for something else without alerting the person who bought it. The company won't let me do that without notifying the original purchaser, there's no store credit available, and since the gift was bought early, the 60-day window had already closed before I even took it out of the box. They refused to work with me at all. Customer service here is really disappointing.

The print design on this item is absolutely vibrant and gorgeous. The customer service team was wonderful to work with. Shipping took a while though. I had given them the wrong address, so Soft Surroundings sent out a replacement order, but they didn't verify the correct address with me first. Luckily someone from the company reached out through Facebook and made sure this second order actually made it to me.

I'm honestly confused by all the negative feedback about this place. Every time I visit the store in my area, I find really nice, well-constructed pieces. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff treats me great. People constantly compliment my Soft Surroundings outfits more than anything else I own. Their bedding is fantastic too, and their bamboo sheets are honestly the nicest I've ever slept on. I'm ordering another set tonight because they're that good.

So when your packages can't get cargo space on a plane, yeah, they take longer. Mail sorting slows down, products get held up, returns stack up waiting for flights. That's not the company's problem. Use some common sense. When I grab clearance items, I understand there's usually a reason they're discounted, like sleeves running small or necklines being weird. I know that going in. Every return I've made has been accepted no questions asked and my refunds came through. The actual product quality is really high, from the velvet to the embroidery details. I'd definitely recommend them.
